I looked online and the manufacturer seems to be Serta. You can see the same design on the armrest in the link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AVUQQES
Title says bonded leather but product description says faux leather. At this point I'm really not sure.
As another redditor pointed out, bonded leather can contain PU as a binding agent which goes back to my original point of not being a very durable material to begin with.
If you are wondering how to tell what kind of leather it is in picture, there's no 100% way of knowing without doing a lab test. But if you're looking for a new furniture then product descriptions or sales people should help figure out what the materials are.
There are several variations of this chair and they all seem to have the same issue. I’m pretty sure OP has this Serta. I had a similar version of the chair from Staples.. With the same leather dingleberries.
Yeah I believe just trying to pick up the traffic from the keywords. Even if you do this one here pretty much the same chair, just named different.
I had the exact same problem with the chairs at my office so I switched it out with: https://www.amazon.com/Serta-43675-Leather-Executive-Chair/dp/B00AVUQQES/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=serta+office+chair&qid=1601263512&sprefix=serta+&sr=8-3 I can now sit in that chair for hours without any pain at all
This is the one I use for both work and home. The Serta cushioning in it is really amazing.
This Serta Faux Leather Big & Tall looks fairly identical in both specs (Serta: 30.5 x 28 x 45.8 inches vs Amazon: 29.5 x 27.2 x 47 inches) and price to the AmazonBasics one.
Gamers Nexus did a good video on this.
I had a boss who had this chair. It was amazing to sit in.
