Are you using a regular hairdryer? SHELANDY 3.2HP Stepless Adjustable Speed Pet Hair Force Dryer Dog Grooming Blower with Heater https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GG1ARTJN6QKYH8WR8A85 we got something comparable to this for our Berner and it works amazing!
I got one, and it’s very helpful for avoiding tangles. Disclaimer: my dog is three-quarter standard poodle, one-quarter golden retriever, but has a coat much closer to a standard. Anyway, he’s got a white coat, so shows mud quickly. This dryer makes it easier to bathe him between groomer visits (especially in the cold months). I just dry him about 50-60% dry, and it’s enough to eliminate tangles. I put some peanut butter on one hand, and dry with the other, and he licks off the peanut butter while I dry.
I got this one, and I like it: SHELANDY 3.2HP Stepless... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Even with short-haired dogs you'd be surprised at how much the force dryer blows out. Some of it is just hair that has been loosened by the brush but is still in the coat due to the density of the fur, but then would naturally fall out over the coming days with natural movement and disruption. Human hair dryers just don't have the same motor strength. You can find some affordable force dryers on Amazon, though. Since your pup is small and doesn't take long to dry you don't need anything too heavy-duty. This is a good brand and one of the cheaper options.
It's normal this time of year. A bath, good blowout with a velocity dryer (have a groomer do it or buy one online), and a good brushing will help a lot.

I have this one for home use. It's not super high powered but it worked great on my old husky mix and my friends long coated shepherd mix. It has a heating option, multiple nozzles and variable speed.
Gotcha. If you can afford $80, get a velocity dryer - that's what makes the pro grooming worthwhile. The shelandy model is good for home use, pros have better ones but the Shelandy is good enough for one person doing one dog.
If not, look for a self-wash station, they usually have a dryer you can use and charge about $10 for the bath.
Take to groomer for bath asked them to use a hand held dryer. They start from the butt forward blowing under the coat this gets rid of tons of hair.
If you'd rather do so at home this is what I'm talking about https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_H6NSS8VHSV0P1AVRXKHZ
Same as everything else they must get used to it. You can even use it without bath first. I do this for a friend's Saint Benard (don't use the heat).
You can get decent ones for under $100. It helps to blow the hair out and untangle it. let me find a link to the one i see a lot of people use.
The link: SHELANDY 3.2HP Stepless Adjustable Speed Pet Hair Force Dryer Dog Grooming Blower with Heater https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VGYNFbJZCK56H?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
There are already some good answers here. Just wanted to add a link for a blow dryer I got off Amazon that I use at home for blowing out my husky. It works great for only $80.

Trust me that you wouldn't be using a HV dryer for yourself. The wind speed is typically up to 135mph and isn't necessary for human hair. Dog hair on the other hand requires it since it's so dense. Here's a budget one that I use.
My dog basically likes chicken or beef. No duck, goat, fish, so many things. Does like dried meats (as long as they are chicken or beef parts, like liver). And American cheese (but not string cheese). Odd.
This is a blow dryer I have and like:
My dog will "sit" for this, but at least 1-2 feet away. She does not seem to mind the sound, but does not like the wind that much. It's quite powerful on the lowest setting, and I can't use any of the tips (these just make the wind more powerful).
I have trimmers saved that others have recommended, but I've not tried them to recommend them.
I've been using this beginner friendly dryer on my pup for almost a year now. Very powerful and affordable(79usd)! Wanted to try something out before committing to something expensive, definitely worth it! Gets my pup dried within less than 1hr! I think it was recommended on some Samoyed grooming blog for beginner friendly tools. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_WFD6VPRPNR03PE97RTKA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
as others said double coated best bet get yourself a dryer shelandy on amazon is a great price has heat/variable speed ,and more than enough power for him great for blowing out loose coat after a bath. also checkout some scissor sets on Amazon to they have some pretty good sets for reasonable prices so you can take excess coat off shape him so he looks / feels great but its better for his coat if you do want a good clipper for doing pads/sani ect wahl arco or bravura are both 5 in 1 cordless good clippers and you can even get metal combs for them. Check out youtube there are lots of demo grooming videos that can be helpful getting started with home grooming and make sure you have a good brush and metal comb
I just use that one since I'm only having to dry my dogs and my family's dogs, it has a knob instead of just a high/low switch so you can turn it down very low until they get adjusted to the sound.
To blow the loose hair out, their coat will need to be dry, then use the cone attachment and either move it slowly across their body so it parts the hair all the down to their skin. You'll see the undercoat loosen up and start to blow out. It's so randomly satisfying.
without a blowdrier usually when you brush at home your not going to get that just fresh blowdry look but a good slicker CC is great or transgroom tuffer than tangles is also nice, and metal greyhound comb to line brush. If you invest in a drier shelandy on amazons a great price you can give the coat a spritz of water /little conditioner mixed in then use the blowdrier and they should look nice and fluffy
for getting a dryer you could check out this one on amazon its a really good price has heat/variable speed shelandy as for clipper if you find ones you like wahl Km series is good check around on facebook/ kijiji/ Craigslist sometimes you can find them for a great price on there barely used
very cute. If you dont have one a pet dryer is a great investment my guy Buddy loves getting the dryer out after his bath shelandy on amazon is a great price with variable speed and heat
This is the one I use on my standard golden doodle. Works well. SHELANDY 3.2HP Stepless Adjustable Speed Pet Hair Force Dryer Dog Grooming Blower with Heater https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Q4E1YQCS9YWG7WXYGMWH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
A blower! I personally have this one and it's a life-saver for coat blowing season. In 20 minutes of blowing I get as much hair as an hour or more of using an undercoat rake on my husky. I use it on the patio, then use the blower to clean up the hair into the backyard for the birds to make nests with.
We got one from Go Pet but this one looks fairly comparable in terms of features and price
SHELANDY 3.2HP Stepless Adjustable Speed Pet Hair Force Dryer Dog Grooming Blower with Heater https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_PVA295H8WZ6TYQBXKA9D
I got this one for use at home and it's really good for the price. I've used it with great results on my friends long haired shepherd, my late husky mix and my sheltie and its been very effective at blowing out undercoat.

I didn’t know grooming vacuums existed! Don’t know why I find the concept so funny.
Anyways, I have a force dryer for my poodle. It’s not “cheap” but it is inexpensive for how much professional force dryers cost. I’ve had it about a year and a half and it’s held up well.
So we actually got one of the blower/dryers on amazon that isn’t too bad for the price. We just used it a few days ago on both pups and my girl did surprisingly well with it considering it was our first time. That being said, we did stop when she started getting stressed but she seemed to like it on her chest, which became super fluffy. The only negative was the heat took forever to warm up but I guess that’s fine as she probably wouldn’t enjoy hot air on her. Should also mention she’s not as fluffy as yours but she is long haired. As for getting the rest of her dried, we just let the fans blow on her from a distance as well as pat down with a towel anywhere that was still wet. Hoping she’ll be more comfortable with the dryer soon.
As for baths, it’s usually a two person job for both of ours. We did start using peanut butter or kong fillers as a reward for them and a distraction. This has worked better with our guy who’s 8 months while our girl seems to prefer to get it done quickly and being told she’s a good girl with some kisses.
Brushing is definitely easier when they are dry or almost dry. With my girl, it’s like brushing her fur wet is like brushing a barbies hair wet: tedious and annoying and she doesn’t like it. We use both the undercoat rake and just a regular ol’ brush for her.
Dryer That is the dryer we’ve bought and it’s worked for us so far. Oh we’ve also had to plug it to a surge protector and not directly to the wall outlet because otherwise it made a almost squealing noise when the nozzle was near the dryer. Other than that, it works fine.
i dont haveone and im brand new to having a SPOO but keep seeing references to this one:

A forced air pet hair dryer like this one, for example, could get her loose floors off way better than the hair dryers we use. It's what groomers have, albeit perhaps more cheaply built/less powerful
sounds like a slicker brush and metal greyhound style comb may work well if hes got longer/thick hair and maybe some line brushing there are some demos on youtube. also consider investing in a pet dryer if you dont have one so you can do regular bath and blowdry at home and remove excess hair hv dryers work really well for loosening/blowing out undercoat Amazon has shelandy
or shernbao shernbao is a bit more expensive, but more power but both have heat and variable speed options
The best bet as suggested find a groomer, and have them do a deshed treatment, and have them blowout impacted coat hopefully get out the matting. If its pretty thick/matted which it can be hard to tell when really fluffy you can just be brushing the top layers of hair, but have a thick matted section below if that were the case they shave and let it grow back. Since they are a rescue one of those would probably be the best options for him especially since they havent had much for grooming experience and dont want to stress them out a ton or know how they may react to certain parts of grooming. But if you dont go to a groomer you can purchase a pet dryer online and try grooming him at home you may not be able to brush it all out and or may take forever he clearly has a pretty thick coat. If you want to home groom purchasing a HV pet dyer start by blowing out as much coat as you can and will help loosen up the mats then go through with slicker brush/metal comb to help comb out excess loose hair, and mats. for stubbonr mats a detangleing spray like mane and tail may help spray matted section gently work on combing out then use the dryer to help loosen separate the mat. after that I would bath/brush and blowdry 100% dry and hopefully he will be mat free they also sell deshed shampoo which can help loosen under coat as well when bathing. Shelandy dryer (heat/variable speed) Shernbao dryer bit more price also bit more powerful Shampoo Deshed treatment shampoo/conditioner
We bought this one in 2019. We have a husky, a German shepherd + 2 cats. I'll say we don't use it frequently - while it does get a great deal of undercoat out, we feel it more or less loosens the hair and he sheds/molts even longer. I'm glad we have it on hand though. It also has a switch to heat the air but we never use that. We use this undercoat rake and use it often.
best bet would probably be if you have a high velocity dryer you can just blow that excess coat out f not could always see about getting one on amazon great for removing excess coat and for a nice finish after a bath the one in link is good price for home grooming and has heat/variable speed [shelandy](https://www.amazon.com/SHELANDY-Stepless-Adjustable-Grooming-Blower/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3FAOE5PT21LS4&keywords=shelandy+dryer&qid=1656546751&sprefix=shelandy+dryer%2Caps%2C508&sr=8-3) or if you book a grooming appointment they could do a deshed treatment and use the hv to get all the excess hair out
invest in a pet dryer [shelandy]https://www.amazon.com/SHELANDY-Stepless-Adjustable-Grooming-Blower/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1H4WVVB40S49D&keywords=shelandy+dryer&qid=1655503667&sprefix=shelandy+dryer%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-5) (or [shernbao](https://www.amazon.com/shernbao-Professional-Dryer-Blower-7-0HP/dp/B07RD9MZZP/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1MUUNEH6USWW2&keywords=shernbao+dryer&qid=1655503569&sprefix=shernboa+dryer%2Caps%2C245&sr=8-2) on amazon are both good options for home grooming ,and buy some nice shampoo / conditioner I prefer ones that are lower scent as I am allergic to fragrances, and some of the pet ones are really strong super long lasting which some dog also find irritatiing. you may want to get a grooming table to put them on when drying so your not bent down so much also can find them on amazon I would do monthly bath the use the blowdrier it will remove a lot of loose hair and help with shedding best to start in the tub to blast off excess water/hair (then just scrape/squeegee out the tub after.you can finish out side getting them 100% dry really helps prevent doggy smell and keep that nice fresh groom longer.

I use this one and it’s pretty good
As the groomer said, a really good de-shedding treatment will do wonders for keeping the fur levels down!
Brush out any tangles if your dogs have any long fur. Check the butt of any dog with medium length fur for impacted fur. It feels like fur is in the way of the skin. Break up any impacts with your fingers, not a brush! You don't need to fully remove the fur, just loosen it.
Wash the dog with de-shedding shampoo and conditioner, be sure to use both! Let both treatments sit for 3-5 min each before rinsing.
Blow the dog dry with either a shop-vac or high velocity dryer. A good, but fair priced high velocity dryer: https://www.amazon.com/SHELANDY-Stepless-Adjustable-Grooming-Blower/dp/B06WLQPJ58 Keeping drying until you see fur flying. The fur isn't dry until it flies!
Brush the dog with an appropriate brush. -Labs and cattle dogs will benefit from a combination of undercoat rake* (no blades! no furminator!), greyhound comb and slicker brush. * https://www.chewy.com/safari-single-row-undercoat-rake-dog/dp/182866 -While a short haired dog like a pit, greyhound or beagle need a rubber currycomb. -If a dog has long fur, you'll want to use a brushing technique called line brushing: https://www.showdogstore.com/blog/line-brushing-tutorial-double-coated-breeds-/
I have a shelandy it works nicely for me with my poodle whose all home groomed Buddy its a reasonable price with variable speed and heat , but if you want to get something bit more power shernbao super cyclone (which also has the option for stand dryer attachment) or flying pig are both great options
I have this one shelandy but I have heard spending more on the flying one is well worth it. I only have one dog and rarely bathe her and the flying one is supposed to be better quality and their customer service I’ve heard is great if anything happens to the dryer
Yes, this is the link
It should be available for anyone in the US. I have been very happy with it. And my dog is obsessed with it, but he's a weirdo, lol
You need a high velocity dryer to get a long coat dried in a timely manner. There’s some affordable ones on amazon and chewy.
I got the shelandy dryer first and it works decently. Definitely a good bang for your buck model on a budget. I used it for about a year and only upgraded because I see myself exclusively owning shaggy dogs in the future.
I managed to get a really good deal on a flying pig dryer during black friday sales. It’s a little bit stronger, has two heat settings, and is much quieter than the shelandy. If noise is a big concern with you or your dog, I’d definitely try to budget for this model.
Here's the pet dryer our breeder recomended. We like it and it seems much less expensive than many others. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WLQPJ58/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Get one of these https://www.amazon.com/SHELANDY-Stepless-Adjustable-Grooming-Blower/dp/B06WLQPJ58 and blow dry, the dirt will fall out if they are dry! We do this after bringing ours to the beach. Brushing helps a lot too
It's a high velocity dog dryer.
I use one of these- https://www.amazon.com/SHELANDY-Stepless-Adjustable-Grooming-Blower/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=pet+dryer&qid=1629996299&sr=8-2

Blows the water/mud right off, and surrounds you in a cloud of a ridiculous amount of fur and dirt
This isn't the exact one I got but is practically the same.
Here's the three most popular dryer options...
Selandy: The low-budget option, 3.2 horsepower, good for if you rarely groom or if your dog has short fur.
Flying pig: Mid-tier option, 4 horsepower, probably the right option for a rough collie owner who grooms a few dogs occasionally
K9 II or K9 III: top tier dryer, good for a pet owner who wants to go for a high end model, or a professional groomer / breeder who grooms multiple dogs frequently.
Personally I have the K9 II dryer; it's awesome. My collie is a smooth but it could absolutely handle a rough. Mine gets bathed a lot (he's a show dog and he likes to swim, so there's always a reason he needs a bath, lol). I used to groom dogs and it's the same quality as what I used while grooming. I think a Flying Pig is fine though, they're good dryers too. Shelandy is for if you're on a very tight budget... still a good dryer, it'll just take longer to dry the dog.
SHELANDY 3.2HP Stepless Adjustable ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_imm_KQNX2PTN8R3CNS2DJQXS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This one.
Investing in a professional dryer (this one from amazon is quite nice https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLQPJ58/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_iff1FbAN36KPB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) is a good idea so you can regularly just blow out the undercoat.
The Shelandy pet dryer is affordable and powerful enough to help! I’ve used it to blow out Huskies and Great Pyrenees before, it get’s the job done!
Yup! For the first year and a half of my dog's life, we did not have our own dryer, so we were frequent flyers at our local Pet Food Express dog wash (a local chain here in the Bay Area). The dryers they had were very adequate for most dogs and even for Cam as a puppy but most of their locations do not have concentrators for the air and as Cam got older and bigger the time to dry him went up exponentially. We eventually found a Unleashed by Petco that had K9IIs and concentrators and the dry time went down again, but then went up as Cam's big boy coats started coming in.
What tools are you using that suck? Most of the brushes on my list can be found at local vendors at shows. Usually a vendor who is a Chris Christiansen vendor will have the full array of their products and tools so you can hold them in your hands and see which ones you like the most. Depending on how you groom you may not need to spend a ton of money replacing them all at once. My shitty plastic-handle slicker did all the work for grooming for all his shows last summer and was amazing, and while the CC one is great I literally didn't buy it until last autumn and will gladly use my shitty slicker again if I need it, haha.
Having a good pin brush and slicker without the little balls on the end is key and those are hard to find outside of shows or online purchases. Virtually every big box pet store (and even the small chains) will carry those grooming tools with the balls on the end. A good comb is a good investment as well, but the cheap Andis comb on Amazon is extremely serviceable until you find one that you feel comfortable linecombing your dog for an hour with :)
In terms of dryers... well, most dryers will work. But the problem really will be that the dryers will not hold the small amount of heat consistently that will speed up the process or will suck even with a concentrator on. Your dog is at the age where you can get away with a shitty dryer but I can guarantee you that process will suck in about a year or two when her coat starts turning into Cam's density. I didn't bring my K9II on my Texas trip and I totally regretted it, and I had to dry Cam at a Petco without a K9II and it took me 2 hours and he wasn't even fully dry (and his coat looked terrible for the show the next day). I also tried to dry Cam with this and it was horrible. Good enough for my friend's smooth collie, and okay for if I misted him down and needed to do a touchup but literally that was about it.
I went to an awesome dog wash up in Oregon that had nice non-K9IIs so I gave them a call when I saw your Reddit comment and they told me they have Double K Challenge dryers; based on the photos it is probably this model or similar. I think this is good enough for a Sammy for sure, but I'm not gonna lie, having a K9II is like a godsend and is a big reason this dry took as little time as it did (it is also reliable -- most people have them for decades -- and easy enough to fix if something does break). Knowing Cam's coat was getting more difficult to dry without a K9II, I put away a little money from my paycheck into savings each week until we could afford to buy it. The K9 Mini is also amazing and comes in cheaper than the K9II; I borrowed it from a Sammy person for a show over the summer and it took me a little longer to dry my dog than with a K9II, but it was a nice, strong, consistent stream of air with the correct amount of warm heat.
I just use a regular beach towel. But use a blow dryer I got from amazon to dry him off in the house. It cost $70 but totally worth it.
