get the shure se215 for 100$ , i would recomend getting this version that has a bit more bass but more importantly a shorter cable, it has an industry standard 46 inch cable instead of the 64 inch it comes with the regular edition which might be akward , you do have to pay shipping but its 112 total so just 12 more dollars for a bit more bass and a better cable to walk with

The HD558 I think is "meh". Try to strech to the HD598 Open Back, that one is really nice for a budget headphone. The Shure 215 SPE are also really, really good if you can consider in-ears. https://www.amazon.com/Isolating-Earphones-transformer-graphics-SE215SPE/dp/B00A16BT4E
Agreed. I've had the blue special edition for SE215 for almost 2 years now and it's pretty decent. It's a bit on the pricey end but I think it's worth it and sounds great. Ergonomic fit for the ear too, if you like that. There's a really thick and long-lasting cord if you tend to break earphones. If you do happen to break the cord, it's also detachable from the earpiece itself, so you can just buy another cord for about $30.
I'm looking for IEMs or earbuds, so far I think I might buy these IEMs, but I'm still not sure. I'm looking for something that's comfy enough to run or exercise with, but at the same time still has great sound. I usually listen to electronic music such as DnB, electro, trap, hardcore, etc, so anything that would be great for those would be great, but at the same time I sometimes listen to metal quite a bit so I don't want something that's too crazy on the bass or treble, I could just use an equalizer depending on what I'm listening to. I heard the special edition of the SE215s had more bass, so I'm considering those over the original. Nothing higher than ~170 CAD please

Ah well. Out of curiosity, how much do you think SE215LTDs are worth on here? I'm thinking about selling mine and my 670 to buy a new GPU or maybe just keep the cash and wait for whatever's next on green team's lineup (sorry AMD, PSU can't even).
People are saying they are a better version of the 215s. Would be perfect if so.
This is a biiiiig topic and likely to get a heap of opinionated options as with a lot of audiophile area.
BUT, to get the conversation/flame wars started, what you are looking for are often called "earphones", "earbuds" "Inner Ear Monitors" (IEM's) or inner-ear headphones.
First, what is your budget? Are you interested in just the inner-ear type or does it have to be the narrow-bodied ones in your photo? What sort of music do you listen to? There are more "bassy" earphones or more "studio"/"reference" earphones so choosing the appropriate one for your use will have a big impact on how happy you are!
I used to rock some Sennheiser CX100's back before getting better IEM-type earphones and they would probably be suitable for what you need (lightweight, not too expensive and can be worn every day)
If you want something a little more expensive, you could look at the Shure SE215's . These will be a much better sound, but are a bigger body.
Have you considered wireless? The technology and price have improved heaps over the years.
Finally, no matter what you choose, I highly recommend upgrading the tips. I have pretty-much always Comply Tips. They will make the earphones seal better (better isolation and sound quality) and are more comfortable than the cheap rubber that comes with most headphones.
Someone just posted about them sampling iems i also commented on there. I highly recommend these they are the ones i love most that are in your price range and have decent bass (without being overpowering) and are nice portable iems.
I like blue, are these shure 215 the right kind? Its SE215SPE-A instead of the typical SE215-K

Also any alternatives to shure in the $100 ballpark?
I assume you mean the blue SE215 Limited Edition ones? They aren't rare.. http://www.amazon.com/Isolating-Earphones-transformer-graphics-SE215SPE-A/dp/B00A16BT4E
