I think your best bet would probably be one of these Silicon Power 256GB SSDs from Amazon. Link.
They aren't the most well known brand and they aren't as good as something like a Samsung SSD, but most people find they work well and at only $63.99 US I'm pretty sure it's the best you're going to get storage wise without increasing your price range a bit or buying something used or completely unknown from eBay.
28$...
Just saying, this could not only affect your performance now, but if you say if that thing moves and buzzs and messes up. It could have a lot more impact on your board and power supply.
Going to a SSD from a HDD you will not even begin to understand the speed difference.
I have an i3 8700 i think it is, and a 970 4gb? Gtx. I can play assassins creed odyssey on medium no issues. My pc from off to desktop takes roughly 10 seconds. You will thank me. Sincerely condering a SSD.
Hi again!
I'm sorry for bothering you since I don't know how these SSD is compatible with Linux. But I I only need to buy a budget SSD, doesn't need to be a high end one (not yet since I'm trying out Linux). :)
But I found this one, do you think this is better than the Kingston?
https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP256GBSS3A55S25/dp/B075RJS55D/
Slowness could be due to dust causing overheating resulting in cpu thermal throttling. Once the laptop internals are cleaned, it would help. You could also do a defragmentation of current drive but that wouldn't really make a much difference.
Regarding battery, you can check in the dell service center. It may be pricey but you would get the best there.
For SSD, are you planning to keep your old harddrive. If so, you need to get a caddy case as well. Would cost around 300-400 INR. On amazon, silicon power ssd is currently priced around 2.3k and reviews are excellent. I would go for it. I have installed ssd in my laptop as well but different ssd, I believe I have WD.
Let me know if you need any more help.
pacman installs to the root filesystem's /usr/bin. I wouldn't try to change where programs are installed, so unless your hdd hosts your root fs, don't go there.
Some or most SSD's are inexpensive. I use this $28 256GB one quite a bit, just fine. In case you want an economical option.
Good luck
> compromises and such
I've had excellent luck with this inexpensive $28 SP 256GB SSD 3D NAND A55 SLC Cache Performance Boost SATA III 2.5" 7mm (0.28") Internal Solid State Drive (SP256GBSS3A55S25)
This is what I think you should go for, you can change some parts
CPU- Ryzen 3 3400g Motherboard- Gigabyte A520 DS3H Ram- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 gb (8x2) Power supply- Gigabyte GP-P450B 80 Plus bronze certified power supply Storage- Silicon Power 256 gb amazon Cabinet- Chiptronex X410B
Total cost (on Amazon)- around 32k
You can go for an A320 instead of an A520 but I'll recommend you get an A520 because of future proofing . If you decide to go for an A320, get a WD blue 1 Tb hdd.
> It's 2019, SSD cards are DIRT CHEAP. Like, HOLY SHIT you can get a 256GB SSD on Amazon for $35: > > > > https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP256GBSS3A55S25/dp/B075RJS55D/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1547650920&sr=1-6&keywords=ssd
You can go even cheaper and grab a 32gb one just for games for 15 bucks including worldwide shipping.
There really is no point in not using an SSD at this stage.
Silicon Power A55, it's among the top rated and best selling on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RJS55D
128GB is $19, 256GB is $28. 512GB is $49, and 1TB is $88.
Also fix your RAM, you should have 8GB (2x 4GB or 4x 2GB) or 16GB (2x 8GB or 4x 4GB).
You have 12GB which is unbalanced (1x 8GB + 1x 4GB or 3x 4GB).
Your CPU is designed to work with 2 sticks of the same RAM, 4 sticks is acceptable.

I have this one. Only thing is you have to get a sata to usb cable. Most of my friends run ssd as well and I’m usually the first one to load everything. Anyways works perfect for me and at that price you can’t beat it
Yes! One thing to note SSD price went down quite a bit. Here is one example 256GB for just $35
I've used these Silicon Power SSD's in several PC's and they work well for how cheap they are. On paper they are slower than the better brands like Samsung and Crucial, but under normal use I can't really notice any difference. Plus you can even afford the 256GB model in your budget.
I just got a SSD for my OG Xbox one and now the buildings all load a couple seconds after jumping out of the plane. Made a HUGE difference for me when it comes to loading time and rendering!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RJS55D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dxVnBbHTNT3M0
And then a $10 External case for it, BOOM!
Just curious, which one did you get? I got this one.
I should re-note that the SSD was a huge improvement for my OG Xbox One. I don't have an S, but it's funny because I bought the OG and then the Scorpio Edition, and I gave that to my son. When we play pubg together, he always brags that his loads first. Yesterday was my first day with the SSD, and he complained every game because I was loading faster---and he tried to get me to give him the SSD for the Scorpio.
I refused.
Here is one that my squad and I have zero issues with. Works like a charm.

Not sure what conflicting answers you speak of.
Any modern/new SSD of 256GB or more will suffice. Whether that's an internal or external is up to you. An internal will need an adapter that transfers it's connection to USB 3.
Name brands MAY last longer than a cheap off brand, but the data in test results doesn't really support that. I use an external Samsung T5 but only because I got it for a birthday present. Most of my friends have Amazon specials that cost far less and so far have given the same results in PUBG.

I bought a 44$ ssd from Amazon and I haven't had any issues (flying car, playdough buildings or falling through map) since then. I know we shouldn't be dealing with any of this since it's full game now but hopefully this helps.
Any external USB3 drive will work...the base PS4 uses a SATA2 bus so it will never transfer data faster than ~300MB/s no matter how fast your drive is or whether it's internal or not.
You could put this inside of this and on a base PS4 it will perform the same as any more expensive/faster drive installed internally.
Spend $20 and get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RJS55D put Windows 11 on it.
How much would this cost for you?
Sure thing! I’ll give you the rundown for an almost exact copy build I just made a couple months ago.
Parts needed: HP Prodesk G2 MT (make sure it’s the MT and not the SFF) like this one for ~$100
Get a GeForce GTX 1650 OC 4GB GDDR6 (must be this model or you’ll have to upgrade the power supply) New Amazon: $169 Used eBay: ~$130
Get a cheap 256gb SSD like this one for $20 (or spend a little more for a bigger one)
Use a usb flash drive larger than 32gb to download the HP OS repair (the windows key is hard coded in the BIOS, so you won’t need another) to install Windows 10. If you can’t find the link, lmk. I can hunt around and find it again.
Make sure you make the SSD the primary (C) drive and the HDD (spinning disk) the secondary (D or whatever letter you want) drive. Install Windows and LOTRO on the C drive. The HDD can be for other programs, pictures, etc…
…and enjoy the smooth, Ultra High awesomeness.
That should put you at $250-$290 all in, based on your choices.
Optional: Get another 4gb x 2 RAM set to upgrade your RAM to 16 Gb total. Not mandatory, but helps.
You can get a higher power graphics card if you want, but you’ll have to buy a bigger PSU (650W is the sweet spot) and buy a $10 adapter cable to make it work with the HP MOBO.
Hope this helps. LMK if you have any other questions or run into any issues.
The deal is bad, and the SSD itself is garbage.
It's a controller and NAND lottery. It can be either TLC or QLC, and Phison or SMI for the controller. Who knows what the hell you get.
As for the price, it's also not good.

here is a guide on how to install antix linux. keep in mind you can erase windows and only run linux (would be my choice just write your activation key down first) or you can dual boot keeping both operating systems on the same computer, or you can keep what your used to and suffer the bloated, broken, laggy mess that is windows. /rant sorry i work in i.t. and i have endless job security thanks to windows and printers
I have a 2013 MacBook Pro with Mojave on it, and it runs great.
Starting in High Sierra, macOS started using APFS as the default for SSDs, as it is designed to take advantage of the technology. HFS has been around for 36 years, and was updated to HFS+ 24 years ago.
If you have an iPhone that runs iOS 10.3 or higher, then it is using APFS for its file system.
The latest macOS’s can still format, read and write a drive as HFS and HFS+, so there is no reason not to upgrade. You can even install Mojave on a external drive, or another partition to test it out. Just your prehistoric macOS versions won’t be able to read a APFS partition.
If you really don’t want APFS, you can install High Sierra and have it still be HFS+ with this method: https://osxdaily.com/2017/10/17/how-skip-apfs-macos-high-sierra/
I think the latest OBS will work with High Sierra, but I know that Sierra is the last macOS that can run the old Final Cut Studio suite. (Before Apple made Final Cut X.) So, if you use the old Final Cut, you can keep an old macOS partition around for that.
You could get a 256GB SSD https://amazon.com/dp/B075RJS55D/ for Less than $30, and External 2.5 Solid State Drive Enclosure https://amazon.com/dp/B079DQ4GVZ/ for $12, and install macOS Mojave on that, and leave your Mac untouched. It will also be bootable on most Intel Macs.

I’ve been looking for a Series X myself. I’ve been playing on an OG Xbox with an SSD. I originally hooked up the SSD for PUBG and it made a huge difference. I’m assuming that’s why my play through hasn’t been too bad so far. The only time my game starts lagging is when I get carried away on a base build. Something you might want to look into, it can be done for about $40
Only need 256GB? How many games you plan to store? You can get an external SSD and enclosure for about $40. Linked both below.

Prices for SSD drives have dropped considerably in the past 4-5 months.
You can pick up a 256GB for $40, 512GB for $70, or 960GB for $140.
If you keep your eyes on NewEgg and Amazon flash sales, you can save a little more. Also, Rakuten and eBay will occasionally offer 15% off coupons. I used a 15% off coupon a few days ago to grab a 960GB drive. Cost me $117.29 at checkout.
Put it in a $8 2.5" USB enclosure and you're good to go.

There's 240-256 GB internal SSDs on Amazon for under $50. You'd need an enclosure for them but a few of my friends have gone this route and I haven't heard any complaints.

One friend for sure bought this one:

He spent under $50 for the SSD and enclosure combined.

He says buildings are rendered seconds after leaving the plane and the current freeze ups in the beginning of the match are about a split second long and only happen once or twice. Can confirm, this sounds identical to the performance of my way more expensive Samsung T5 external.

Of note: YMMV with 240 GB drives. I've heard most work but I've also heard of some not. It depends on how much storage is available to the user (this might be able to be formatted on a PC before hooking to Xbox, but I've never done it).
I just ordered the following for my Pi4 and should get them today. YAY new toys!

The non-pro PS4's have a SATA2 bus, internal vs. external / drive speed won't make any discernable performance difference.
You can get a 240 GB SSD on amazon for less then 50 if thats enough storage for you:
The A55 has variable hardware which means sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It most commonly comes with the Phison S11 or SMI SM2258XT, both of which are DRAM-less. In the past it came with the Phison S10 which does have DRAM, although it's a second-rate controller. This change has happened in competing drives like the Inland SATA SSD for example.
Check the Amazon product page for it, looking at consumer images. This review shows CDI with the drive having firmware SBFM61.2 which is notably for the DRAM-less Phison S11. This review image shows Q0616B0 which comes on the DRAM-less SM2258XT, which is obvious based on the result (e.g. low 4K). Etc.
Strange. You can buy a decent SSD for under $30 these days, so there's no reason not to get one.
If your motherboard can connect to a SATA drive and if you have SATA power connectors:

I added an external ssd for my OG system quite some time ago. Definitely was a significant improvement. Buildings are all rendered when I land, whether it's a hot drop or farther out. Might take a second or two for weapons to load after landing in a hot drop. In my opinion it was absolutely worth the purchase. Check out these two guys and you're back in business for under $50. It's enough storage for PUBG and a few other games. Anything you aren't playing at the moment can still be stored on the internal HDD. Doesn't take long to transfer a game from one to the other.

I put Red Dead Redemption 2 on there too for faster load times.
$100 is about twice what you realistically need to spend.
I got this and an enclosure for <$50...
Xbox doesn’t recognize less than like 240gb for storing and playing games though. Gotta go for 240-256 area if you want a cheap one (that still works).

The magic of an SSD on a PC is moving only what you wanted sped up onto it. Personally, I put my OS and any games newer than 2015 on it. The rest go to a rather slow 1TB internal which I use for short term storage and usable stuff.
Skyrim has questionable load times when I played it a few years back. Worth speeding up, maybe just get a smaller drive to put games you want to load quickly?
IIRC 240gb was like $30-$40 for cheap ones on amazon (back them up weekly JIC), which would make the bottle neck either your graphics card or amount of RAM or single core processor speed. Heck, 512 Samsung EVO are $80ish, definitely the most effective and cheapest upgrade if you haven’t already done it yet.
Bonus: I’ve been using a older one as my boot drive for a while now, it takes longer to type in my 12 digit password than it takes to boot to the login screen. It’s glorious
