There the lightning deals, then there are department deals if supplied by Amazon.
If you search in the prime day category, you can find things like this simmons 3-9x32 for $30 (discount applied at checkout). Some items qualify for an extra 20% off...you need to check the top right corner.
Not a killer deal, just an example. I gave up after 5 min. This subreddit strains my wallet enough already.
It should be a 3/8" dovetail on the top so anything that has a 3/8" dovetail mount will work with it. I use a simmons 3-9x32mm on my 795 that works pretty well.
I bought a scope :) Went to my local gun store.... not as fancy as Leupold, but I think for the price it will do me well. Great to look through, and designed for a .22 rifle. I'm glad I bought it before I read Korlic88 & Criscomeyers comments, or I would have spent a couple hundred more for the scope than I did! :)
As it is, this is what I got; ---- know them, great people--- reminds me of why I love living in a rural area, and he threw this guy on there for me. I'm happy--- affordable good to look through. https://www.amazon.com/Simmons-511039-Matte-Black-Riflescope/dp/B000KOSB34
Yeah, second that. Link to scope on amazon below. I can hit 2" groups at 100 yards with a lever action .22 and the scope on 9x, and can reach out to 200 yards with hold over (haven't tried sighting it for that distance). Minor nitpick with it is that adjustment is slightly touchy (not very solid detents on the adjustments, and adjusting windage seems to slightly put elevation out and vice versa, so you have to go back and forth a bit to zero it in). It's not meant for adjusting on the fly anyway so I sighted mine for 100 yards with the ammo I use, and have figured out where to hold for 50 or 200.
I bought this Simmons for my XT-22 in 2016. Works great, its cheap, holds zero.
Simmons 3-9x32mm .22 Waterproof Fogproof Matte Black Riflescope (511039) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KOSB34/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_FTCJ1G4E1EWFBYGBR27P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks very much! It’s my first scope ever on my 22lr...just wanted something to play around with and possibly hunt rabbit. I got a super cheap scope on amazon to beat up before I decide if I should invest in a “real” scope.
I cant vouch for them, but I gave a look at these Simmons 22 Scopes and they seem pretty popular and get good reviews for 22 rifles. These will probably work just fine for 50 - 100 yards. As others mention, the Nikon Prostaff, Vortex Crossfires (I own both) are a step up and higher price.
I have these on 3 rimfire rifles now, solid scope for stupid cheap. Holding zero just fine, dropped them a couple times and nothing bag happened, decent plinking glass.
I am definitely considering this cheap Simmons .22 mag scope, but I'm wondering if it's worth spending a little more for something like a Nikon Prostaff for almost three times as much.
Hadn't seen the RAR in wood. They look super nice, but the durability of a plastic stock is definitely a bonus. Not so much the flex you mentioned... The Savage B22 could also be interesting in a very similair price range.

Dude it's rimfire.
I've been using the same $40 scope across 4 .22lr rifles for almost 2 years. Zero issues.
If you're having trouble deciding, this is probably the best starter rimfire scope on the market. It used to be sub $50 shipped but is now $60 shipped.

I had this on my Marlin 795, just put it on my CZ 455 (haven't shot it yet) and will eventually replace it with something higher end down the road.
The glass is great for the price. Downsides are that the towers don't click, there is no parallax adjustment and the included rings are complete trash (buy better rings).
$50 with free shipping. Get this one, generally considered the go-to option for a budget 22 scope that works well.
I realize you said you wanted something more compact, but if you change your mind the inexpensive 3-9x simmons rimfire scope works pretty well. Only thing I don't like is adjusting it (clicks / detents for the turrets aren't very strong, and it takes a bit of back and forth between windage/elevation adjustments to get it set right). Once sighted in it works great though and holds zero well. It's a set and forget setup, not really meant for adjusting elevation to suit target. I sighted mine for 100 yards and just hold over/under as needed for other ranges.
A lot of people over-scope .22s. I prefer a 2-7x or a fixed 4x scope for most .22lr work. There are a ton of good micro red dots out there under $100.
A lot of people like 3-9x scopes. This would serve your application well at a fair price.
It's a Marlin XT-22TR. I was looking at this scope; would I need to buy separate rings/ mounts to allow it room to fit? Appreciate your help.
Get a Simmons .22 mag scope. You won't regret it if you're going cheap.
A friend of mine has this, works just fine for bench shooting at a 100yds. He's not particularly nice to it either and it still performs well. It does include rings, is just not mentioned in the description, but the reviews confirm this
It’s actually a cheap Simmons from Amazon. It surprisingly nice and clear! It feels pretty sturdy as well. It’s an awesome scope for the price!
Dang!
These are supposed to be decent: https://www.amazon.ca/Simmons-TruPlex-Reticle-Riflescope-3-9x32mm/dp/B000KOSB34/ref=sr_1_1
Sorry don't know what stores you got up there to help.
I just bought this scope 4 weeks ago along with these rings. Great deal. 900+ reviews with 4.5 rating. I mounted it and it is truly a great scope.

Total cost was like $60 on Amazon.
Is it this one?
The page says this one is made for .22lr so how do you feel about how well it works with .17hmr vs other scopes? There are two other, much more exspensive scopes, others have reccomened to me for .17hmr, voila:
They are still in production aparently.... this is what you seek. amazon.https://www.amazon.com/Simmons-511039-Matte-Black-Riflescope/dp/B000KOSB34
There's better, much better...I've had/have scopes that ran thousands but for what you need you won't be disappointed.
So, I just looked that scope up, and I'm seeing it for like $260...
Any particular reason to go with that, over a $50 Simmons off Amazon?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KOSB34
Seriously curious about thought process here, and 100% cool to just be like "I liked it better". Mostly I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice for mine...
No need to get fancy. Comes with scope rings, so you should be good to go.
I know this is a somewhat old post but I'll hopefully be picking up a 795 and this is exactly what I want to build.
You mentioned how you had issues with the scope sliding backward, which I've read before, and suggested a one piece rail. Is this what you're referring to? I'm not sure I see how these work, how do they connect to the rifle? The rail doesn't slide back at all? Definitely gonna look into getting one because it doesn't look like it raises the scope too much.
That scope looks super nice. Is that the Nikon 3-9X40 Rimfire with a sunshade? Probably a stupid question, but can I add a sunshade to any optic? The Nikon is a little out of budget so I'll probably go with this cheap Simmons TruPlex 3-9x32mm
Super nice rifle!
This simmons one should work fine.
Been on my 795 for like 3 years now and hasn't lost zero yet.
Do you want iron sights or a scope? If you want iron sights, check out the NODAK sights or Tech sights. If you want a scope, check out the Simmons 511039. It's very popular for 10/22 and is extremely cheap. Here's the link to the Simmons: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KOSB34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_njKbAb6AAGJT6
I run both the Simmons scope and the NODAK sights on mine using these mounts: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000N8JV9A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_BnKbAbDBH69DE
Looking at this scope.
Any suggestions on an extractor?
I got this one and I have never had to re-zero it yet. Less than $40. I got different rings for mine though.
https://www.amazon.com/Simmons-511039-Matte-Black-Riflescope/dp/B000KOSB34
I have two 22LR rifles, one with a Simmons 3-9 rimfire scope for about $40, one with a Vortex Crossfire 2 3-9 for more like $120.
The simmons is sufficient, but the extra $100 does buy a significantly sharper view. So I guess it depends on what your wallet likes. I would point you to the nicer glass, especially if you're practicing distance/bullseye shooting.
FFP is really only important for helping you figure out how far or how big a target is. You don't need such a thing for rimfire shooting IMO.
Heard good things about this so I ordered it today. http://www.amazon.com/Simmons-511039-Riflescope-Matte-Black/dp/B000KOSB34
Nice Kidd! An inexpensive option that's often recommended is the Simmons 3-9x. Very compact little scope. Replaced a Simmons with a Nikon, and while I like the upgrade, I do miss the little Simmons. Here is the Simmons on the older version, when newer upgrade here.
is this not the Simmons in black?
also I did not know any Simmons scope had a good reputation anywhere. I would definitely put it in the same class as Barska though.
This Simmons works well too for the price.
I just got one as well! Dicks had one for $60 and i found this one as well .22 mag scope
This one's not bad, at a not bad price. I have it on my 10/22 Take-Down.
