Would a fixture like this solve the directional issues of a bulb style light? Just downloaded a light meter, what lux measurement is the goal at the leaves?
I currently have 3 reflectors from amazon sitting on top with full spectrum bulbs:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD1PK37/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I2ZNJ4RLWPENTV&colid=3EPD74TL14Q6G
I am wrapping foil around the edges to reflect light back in. I don't know how to get the bottom shelf more light because I have a few taller plants that need space.
pls no expensive suggestions, I'm on a student's budget.
I'm not from the UK but these are the clamp lamp thingys that I use for my heavy growlights like sansi, haus bright etc
Simple Deluxe HIWKLTCLAMPLIGHTMX2 2-Pack Clamp Lamp Light with 8.5 Inch Aluminum Reflector Up to 150 Watt E26 Socket (No Bulb Included) 6 Feet 18/2 SPT-2 Cord, Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD1PK37/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_N7HDAAJNYD13B6MJF77H?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I use a large box with hole cut out on top with a clamp light and a 100watt bulb shooting down into it, far cheaper then trying to heat a whole room with a space heater.

there's ways to keep it warm without heating the entire room. I made a cheap contraption to do this. I have a table I place it on in a garage. from there I taped together a couple of boxes a couple of inches shorter then the table and about 2 feet high. I cut a large hole in the top just smaller then the light I use (around 100 watt) and place it on top of that hole. the base for the light can be found here Simple Deluxe HIWKLTCLAMPLIGHTMX2 2-Pack Clamp Lamp Light with 8.5 Inch Aluminum Reflector Up to 150 Watt E26 Socket (No Bulb Included) 6 Feet 18/2 SPT-2 Cord, Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD1PK37/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_C7G5TE2B0V89F4MR2K2Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
that keeps it warm enough without blowing up my electricity bill by trying to heat the entire garage.
I use a setup in the colder times if the year. I'll take a decent sized box and cut the flaps off, from there I cut a hole in the top and have a clamp light on top of it. Simple Deluxe 2-Pack Clamp Lamp... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD1PK37?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I use a normal bulb and this has been enough to keep the project warm enough to cure.
it's cheaper then a space heater to heat the entire room.
I hope this helps someone out.
I like my grow lights to be white so they don't make my house look funny when they're on. I have them on timers so they come on a couple hours before sunrise and stay on for 12 hours.
I just buy full spectrum grow bulbs that I put into a desk lamp that had a flexible neck until I bought these clamps.

Planning to install hanging swag lights and put grow bulbs in them too for some corner plants.
I find the technical aspects of lighting a bit confusing, but from experience my plants like a minimum of 1000 lumens on the bulb at a distance of about a foot. So I'm thinking for hanging lights, I would need 3000 lumens or higher.
I first had pink grow bulbs at about 250 lumens each and my plants did not do well under them.
Sounds like you're going to have to try to recreate daylight for them with grow lights. Start their day when you open your blinds or later. Put the lights on a timer so they stay on well after it's dark outside but turn off after they get enough hours of "daylight" but you still get your darkness for sleeping.
I'm still new on my plant journey, but these are great for placing your grow bulbs where you need them. They're cheap, lightweight, and seem to amplify the light thanks to the reflective cone. Just stick some bright grow bulbs in them. My plants have been thriving under Miracle LED full spectrum bulbs 1-2 feet away.

You're going to need more than one bulb+clamp setup for 50 plants, total depending on sizes and heights of the plants.
One or two clamps like this. They're lightweight and will clamp on securely to those rods.

And grow bulbs. I've had good success with Miracle LED full spectrum and also Sansi full spectrum.
Hey! I have multiple grow lights. Some are the 3 prong flexible ones (not great, wouldn’t recommend. If plants could get even sunlight it would be the same. Due to setup restrictions I could not mount bulbs and bought these but they do next to nothing) but 2 are actual bulbs. I mounted them pretty close to the plants and screwed them into reflectors (these ones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD1PK37/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_i_3eM4EbZ8PEC2A)
The best bulb I’ve used is the one that made these blush :) this planter is noticeably more vibrant and the plants grow much faster than any other light I’m using. Little to no etoilation. The exact one I used isn’t available on Amazon anymore, but if you look up the specs you can likely find a similar model - TaoTronics LED Grow Light Bulb TT-GL23 (the bulb casing is green). I found this listing that shows the specs in one of the images : https://taotronics.grow-light.org/led-hydroponics-plant-grow-light-bulb-model.html?product_id=KxsCTM-cEAeQVA
The bulb is about 6 1/2 inches from the plant, it’s mounted at an angle since it is clipped to the side of a shelf unit, but it would probably do well mounted directly above. It doesn’t get crazy hot but after running for 11 hours in a metal reflector it is hot to the touch. Doesn’t radiate heat though, I’m not concerned having the reflector in direct contact with the side of the shelf.
My timer is on for 13 hours a day (8am to 10pm) - THATS probably over doing it but I set it when I was first getting a into plants and was trying to speed up whatever I could haha. But this group of sucks seems to love the long cycle. They do get a little natural sunlight as well but it is not direct and filtered through a tree, so I think it is minimal in summer but medium in winter (no leaves to filter the light). They didn’t show stress colors until I added the grow light :) and this is the only grow light I’ve had that has brought out the stressed colors. I have not tried it with any other plants but am moving right now so I may put another plant under it to see if I get colors as well.
Sorry I’m on mobile so let me know if links aren’t working or something. If you have other questions I’m happy to answer what I can, but I may not be able to respond until much later tonight or tomorrow. Hope this helps!!

I use clip on painters lights. They're ugly but versatile. These used to be a lot cheaper before, well, anyways. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B06XD1PK37/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_PFX2603AA95GQTKNMZ8M
For the humidity, I spread out perlites on a big tray. Pour water on the perlites until they are damp/wet, they will maintain high humidity. If you don’t open the greenhouse often, the perlites will stay wet for about a week. For the grow light, since don’t need much light, maybe something you can clip outside the cabinet a light with a cover/cone, so that the light doesn’t spread out: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD1PK37/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_BTQ1XF4ZQHH0J61EKNEE
I have this humidity meter, it seems pretty accurate: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TRKGW9G/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_5WYERR2TV302Y0ND67Q5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is my setup for my small greenhouse: https://ibb.co/myJsxyq See the perlites on the bottom that I use for humidity. For the light, I use a desk clip on and a grow light bulb from Home Depot. The green paper thing is because the light is too bright. I have the greenhouse under my kitchen table.
Here's what I can recommend from my experience that didn't break the bank for me.

A lot of people will post very expensive grow lamps. Four of these lights have worked just fine for me.

It's actually just a clamp light like you get from home Depot or Lowe's or any big box hardware store. They're all the same really roughly cost around 6-10 bucks. I got 2 of these off Amazon for about 16 bucks, and bought a 6 pack of 6500k LED lights as well for I believe 23?
