Aaaand of course after posting and searching all morning I think I may have found the one lol.
I'll have to take some measurements, but I think this will work for my monitor. I have to take some measurements but I'll probably order this one, unless anyone on this great sub has any reviews or better recommendations!
It's nothing special, but seriously smaller footprint on my desk which is all I personally cared about. Don't care for swivel, or tilt
Try looking for basic monitor stands that allow rotation, like this one
Single LCD Computer Monitor Free-Standing Desk Stand Riser for 13 inch to 32 inch Screen with Swivel, Height Adjustable, Rotation, Holds One (1) Screen up to 77Lbs(HT05B-001))

Or just look for Vesa mount on Amazon.
This is the monitor base i am using - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07Q79ZZJ6/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I had an Acer predator with similar stand issues and I can't mount it to my desk b/c it's old school. I bought this and tried it out, thought it was gonna look cheap - actually looks better than my original stand. The only downside is adjusting the height is a pain.
Yeah, I hear ya. Me too. For me though with owning an LG C9 TV even higher end HDR monitors didn't really cut it. It just wasn't the same. Then I had a chance to test out a Mini LED HDR 1200 monitor for a week and it started to give me headaches from the brightness. I can't even imagine the ASUS Pro monitor that's coming out that will be 1600. Screw that!
Great for TVs but not a monitor sitting 1-2 feet from my face. If I was farther back, sure.
The few games I've played so far on it (FI32U) looked great!
The only negative I had for it was the stand. For me it had two issues, 1) it was prone to wiggle. In other words, if I bumped the desk the monitor would naturally move with it but then it would keep moving for a little bit. Also, the monitor stuck out too far forward. It put the monitor too close to my face which seemed very unnecessary. I grabbed a stand off Amazon and that fixed both problems.
With your budget your best bet will be to get the GIGABYTE G27Q for $270 which is a 27" IPS 1440p 144hz monitor and then swap out the stand with a $30 360° rotation stand.
Although if you would prefer a 24" IPS 1080p 144hz screen then the LG 24GN650 for $197 has a portrait capable stand from the get go.
The Asus VG27AQ is 27" IPS 1440p 144hz and it supports going into portrait mode but you will have to pay $350.
You can get a stand like this which will work like a normal monitor stand.

Very sturdy. Bottom piece is a thick tempered glass. Stand supports up to 77 lbs.
This one is a little smaller. Same brand. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q79ZZJ6/ref=emc\_bcc\_2\_i
I've had a severely arthritic back for decades, my parents neglected to take care of it after a car accident I was a passenger in with my mother driving when I was eight.
The biggest change in my posture was made when I bought an inexpensive $25 monitor stand that raised the screen off of my desk by nearly a foot. With proper posture, my eye line is now nearly even with the top of the screen rather than below my chin. I now do not subconsciously slouch in my chair.

I'm getting a second monitor and mounting my current one vertically. Unfortunately, my desk won't work with a clamp or grommet, and it's against a window, so a wall mount won't work. Would a freestanding monitor stand like this or this work okay? Or is there another way of turning a monitor that wouldn't involve a monitor arm?
What I got for my right portrait monitor. VESA 100, 75, and 50. Lots of adjustments with it too.
Glad to help!
I am using this universal VESA adapter + this stand, however I had to tweak/modify it to for the SVD because it is so thin (which took about 2 hours but it’s all good. Having a VESA stand built it would have been awesome).
The SVD and Qi are both less mirror like than the Q5, which felt like I was staring at aluminum foil and bothered my eyes. The SVD is much more pleasant and forgiving with viewing angles, and doesn’t bother your eyes like you are staring at a mirror. It’s really well done.
The low DPI is quickly forgotten for me as I use it for spreadsheet work and business analysis (which requires reading). I too came from a 27 inch 4K Dell and the text isn’t as crisp, however it is emissive!
The size is definitely unconventional for a monitor. If you follow the company they have expressed that the 32” was a size they were already making for their outdoor signage business so it was cheapest to apply that to these monitors. Of course do I wish it was higher resolution and a bit smaller, yes. But after getting years of hot air from companies like Clearink, Pixel Qi, etc. I’m just very grateful that a company did something about it. It’s really high quality and looks like its built to withstand the elements with its metal construction. I wish this company nothing but success and I hope to see more sizes in the future.
Monitor was on sale for about $100, I purchased a separate stand after awhile since I noticed my neck was a bit strained and needed it higher up. Both are linked below.

In a perfect world, I would recommend lowering your desk height since shoulder pain usually signifies excessive slouching/shrugging. If you can make that happen, I highly recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/Computer-Free-Standing-Adjustable-Rotation-HT05B-001/dp/B07Q79ZZJ6/ref=sr_1_99?dchild=1&keywords=monitor+stand&qid=1623788726&sr=8-99
I'm not quite as tall but suffer from similar arm length:ratio problems lol I eventually caved in and bought a standing desk and honestly, best investment I've made so far. I don't have any desks to recommend off the top of my head but hopefully that broadens your horizons a bit
I think overall it's ok. Not great, not bad.
I couldn't find any reviews myself, but the value seemed to be there. Just too bad for the ghosting and FreeSync issues, otherwise this would've been a pretty nice deal.
I bought it from Canada Computers so I don't really have an option to return it, but it's working fine now with some caveats and I'm satisfied. Would be better if FreeSync is fixed, but luckily since I have a 6800XT, I can play most games without it.
I recommend that you buy it from somewhere that allows returns because what is acceptable to me might not be for you.
And the stand is massive and takes up a large portion of your desk, so you might want to get something like this https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07Q79ZZJ6 or a monitor arm.
What do you think of something like this? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q79ZZJ6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have several monitors on my desk and it bothers me that some of them wobble, but it is inevitable due to how my setup is. I am thinking of putting wooden blocks under my desk to reduce it as I think the carpet is the main issue.
Just a cheap one from Amazon. It does the job perfectly.
Single LCD Computer Monitor... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q79ZZJ6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
its very stable and pretty nice looking. I’ve adjusted it a bit but finally hit the sweet spot today.
