I would personally recommend something like this to mount the top monitor to your desk and then just set the G9 on its stand. You want to make sure that monitor arm goes high enough though. It needs to get the top monitor up about 24" inches (to the center of the VESA mount on the back, not the bottom of the top monitor) to fit a 25-29" monitor up top. The one I linked won't work, but there are some out there that should.
These stands rob a shit ton of desk space, and in terms of adjustability, pale in comparison to a dedicated gas spring mount like the one I linked. The simpler T shaped ones are basically equally adjustable to a stock mount, but there is still the space factor.
Look into monitors with a high refresh rate (144hz), low response time (less than 3ms). That's also only if you want some high end shit. Any 1440 or even 1080 will work if you're running off a laptop. I doubt it can put out the graphics needed to use a 144hz monitor properly. If you're planning on upgrading in the future however, 144hz is the way to go. As far as where to put it. I mounted mine and it saves a lot of desk space.
