This is a solid deal. If you want something a little more quality/performance, SK Hynix Gold P31 is also on sale for $109 today
Curious question for yall, how do sales like this compare with cyber monday deals? I was looking to get the SK hynix 1tb https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DKB5LWY?th=1 and somehow missed the prime day sale it had... These perform somewhat identical but yall reckon I'm fine waiting til cyber monday and picking it up then? Or is 20% off about as good as it gets for deals like these
assuming you can actually get a 3060 ti at 500 bucks....i'd get a higher wattage power supply to future proof the system.
The hynix nvme that's on sale right now for prime day will cost you another 40 bucks to upgrade, but is probably worth it.
SK Hynix is one of the premier and largest brands for consumer memory chips, right along Samsung. This particular SSD has a great track record. 128 layers of flash, TLC, great read-writes (for a Gen 3 drive) and awesome endurance. This will be my first drive from them but everyone else on the sub was speaking highly of its real world performance
Am I right in noting this drive has the highest endurance ratings for any consumer TLC SSD (e.g., excluding Micron's mass of spare area)? 0.5 DWPD is significantly higher than the 0.3 DWPD we typically see in TLC.
Is that a side effect of its impressive power management, i.e., lower electrical loads -> longer longevity?
It's already sold out Amazon until next week. Still, the price is ridiculously good.
If it’s a gaming pc or a work pc I would definitely try to go with an ssd. I’ve heard these are a great brand for a good price: https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?adgrpid=111949711907&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkt6aBhDKARIsAAyeLJ0szeDPKFiMaPJpgZwABPE6EjiUeTG2qdeZiXp5_7_UBNPQ8rM_BRQaAkojEALw_wcB&hvadid=609181732061&hvdev=m&hvl...
Nvme ssd and Sata SSDs price are about the same though there are some bargain basement sata ssds (Team group and Leven ssd on Amazon come to mind) with very good prices however I would be reluctant to use it as a boot/os drive but they do offer cheap fast storage options.
I personally try to stick to Samsung/SK Hynix/WD, maybe Crucial/Micron if the price is good.
There are really only 4 major Nand manufacturers Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron and Toshiba/Kioxia. Most third party SSDs are using Micron and Toshiba/Kioxia nand. (Intel use to be a player here but they sold and divested their SSD operations)
Samsung and SK Hynix have a perception of being slightly more premium and reliable products. WD as the dominant player in the mechanical HDD industry bought San Disk which has a very close relationship with Toshiba which gives WD an advantage over other third party SSds. Toshiba/Kioxia doesn't seem to have much presence in the consumer market themselves, Micron/Crucial does make decent ssd but their high end models are slightly slower and hotter than competition and use off the shelf controllers.
If your looking to score a deal on a SSD there is a prime day coming up and usually great prices on SSD even if your not a prime member last prime day I got a great deal on a 2TB WD SN850 from Bestbuy.
If i was in the market for an SSD I probably would keep an eye out on the SK hynix p31 next Tuesday . It is one of the better/best rated gen pcie gen 3 SSDs and usually have deep discounts on prime day.

A "like new" SK hynix Gold P31 1TB for $81.25: https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=sr_1_12?m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&qid=1661196870&rnid=13355616011&s=warehouse-deals&sr=1-12&th=1
This beats the prime-only deal from a month ago or so.
Also depends on how much storage you want. You can get a good 1TB drive for $100-130 (there's actually a really good prime day deal on one of the best 3.0 drives, the Hynix Gold P31 for $89). 2TB drives go for $180+.
Also depends if you have an m.2 slot on your motherboard or if you have to use the non-m.2 drives.
In what world would you pick this over a P31, a better drive, that's currently almost $10 cheaper?
For what it's worth, the SK hynix Gold P31 SSD is currently on sale at Amazon ($93 for 1TB): https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY
As I understand it this SSD is a popular choice for the Framework because it strikes a good balance between speed and power efficiency.
Meeee!! I had been beating around the bush on ordering a Framework for the last few weeks and ended up being thankful I did once I saw the new announcement. Ended up placing my order that day!
I got the DIY kit with the i7-1260p and 32gb of RAM. For storage, I'm bringing my own. I read a number of threads in the Framework forums that had a lot of praise for the SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | Up to 3500MB/S | Compact M.2 SSD Form Factor SK hynix SSD | Internal Solid State Drive with 128-Layer NAND Flash. I'm assuming that it will work just as well in these new 12th gen laptops, but if anyone knows otherwise, I'd appreciate your insight!
I'm also bringing my own OS; I'm a Windows user, but I really want to avoid switching to Win11 for as long as possible, so I was planning on acquiring my own license key for Win10 Pro. Unfortunately, I read in another thread yesterday that only Win11 is able to get the most performance out of the 12th gen CPUs, so... If true, I'm not sure if I'll commit to Win10 or just give in to Win11.
>In my case, I use a PCI3 NvME because I don't think the PCIv4 version is worth the price difference (or wasn't when I built my system), so for me, a larger SSD is better than a faster one.
Is this the SSD you're referring to? I feel like I've seen this one recommended a lot in different threads, primarily for its solid performance and improvement on battery life, but I'd like to make sure I've found the right one.
This one. SK Hynix isn’t as well known as Samsung but they’re the second largest memory manufacturer behind Samsung. If you experience stutters and drops between areas I can’t think of much else to explain that aside from the fact that you have an HDD. It’s loading assets between areas and HDDs are slow compared to SSDs so it’s killing you. At the very least, even if it doesn’t fix your problem, it will dramatically shorten your load times in everything and once you experience an SSD you will never go back to HDD.

SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | Up to 3500MB/S | Compact M.2 SSD Form Factor SK hynix SSD | Internal Solid State Drive with 128-Layer NAND Flash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8N73F7490WQQVFPPCF61?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Here’s the m.2 I installed in my nitro 5 a couple weeks ago… I’d definitely buy another stick.
Only thing I would do different than OP is get the SK hynix P31 Gold nvme. It's the good standard for laptop nvme for being fast and incredibly power efficient.
Limited-time deal: SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | Up to 3500MB/S | Compact M.2 SSD Form Factor SK hynix SSD | Internal Solid State Drive with 128-Layer NAND Flash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_dl_GM14TVQ6CPHEHPFMPK7W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Best laptop nmve drive for a laptop. Stays cool and it’s fast for gen 3. Our laptops don’t use gen 4. Plus it’s at a really great price right now
The only thing I am seeing as trouble is the warranty. If something is wrong, claiming the warranty will be a headache. Look for different stores of Amazon in EU, I found one in Germany. here
Help me decide if I'm hopping on this deal on the P31 or not. How measurably better would it be over my two pre-nerf SN550s?
I would like another SSD so getting one would be a good idea in the first place. Mostly just want to know what I'd be missing if I don't.
This one correct?
SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | Up to 3500MB/S | Compact M.2 SSD Form Factor SK hynix SSD | Internal Solid State Drive with 128-Layer NAND Flash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_7G7RVXAX7HGJ36C4TGYJ
Try for something like this …
SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | Up to 3500MB/S | Compact M.2 SSD Form Factor SK hynix SSD | Internal Solid State Drive with 128-Layer NAND Flash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_EYRF4BGXG5TGXXR3WWDA?psc=1
Tlc with cache nvme pcie 3.0.
The a60 is a no cache nvme that’s why it’s slow.
Pcie 3.0 - 3500 read
Pcie 4.0 - 5000 to 7000 read, depends on the controller
If the nvme is slower, it means either qlc or no cache or both.
But if you want 1 example of a decent drive for sale right now, look to the same brand as this Sata drive Hynix P31 m.2. you have to determine your budget, do you want Pcie 3.0 or 4.0, and capacity. Then go from there. Good prices from now through Monday. You should shop around, though.
I would personally go for more storage if you play AA or AAA games, they are more commonly using 20-50GB or more. You can get something like this
While Samsung does have some nice SSDs they are really overpriced most of the time. The one I linked also has a 500gb for ~$70 if you're set on smaller capacity.
I'm not super familiar with intel processors so someone can correct me, but 650w seems perfectly fine for a 3060ti. Maybe getting 750w will get your more headroom if you plan on upgrading your GPU though.
I second 32gb ram is a bit unnecessary for gaming ATM. Start with 16gb and save some room for more later on if you do end up needing it. I would also recommend getting a 1tb SSD instead of 500gb. You will fill that thing up quick with games regularly hitting the 30-50gb file sizes or even bigger for AAA games. For $30 bucks more you can double your storage with something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-ypp-ro-model_ypp_ro_model_k0_1_5&crid=3BXEK6G54EBKS&sprefix=hynix&th=1. I regularly see 1tb drives posted in r/buildapcsales as well if you aren't in too much of a hurry, might see something cheaper on BF/CM.
I ordered it from Amazon. This ssd is also known for being very efficient, so it’s good for battery life.
And regarding battery life. I mostly use it plugged in but when I have to use the battery I enable Optimus, reduce the refresh rate of the screen to 60 hz, and set the cpu to not boost. That way I can use the laptop for several hours easily, at least 5-7. But of course it depends on what you’re doing with it. Jarrod Tech made a review of the laptop and it scored the best battery life he has ever tested, if I recall correctly.
Something like this would work wonders:
SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QZF1SYBR2GPVGWHRDYN6?psc=1
No need to pay extra for a gen 4 drive you can't utilize.
Your device should have an open SSD slot. You can expand storage by just populating the empty slot. This won’t upset your windows install, or any of you installed applications.
This is what I purchased:
It uses less power and generates less heat than a typical SSD. It’s great, and typically drops down to $110 on Amazon.
I wouldn’t recommend going to a professional. If you are comfortable with it, it’s not hard. You just need a small phillips screwdriver bit and some guitar picks. Going slow is advisable. When you’re in there you can also remove dust.
SK Hynix Gold P31 1TB. Currently $130 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY/
These are rated well for high performance and low energy/heat. In my CrystalMark test, mine scored 3500/3400 r/w.
You don’t have to disconnect the battery, but make sure to ground yourself. Can also temp disable battery in bios.
Oops I guess the link didn’t take. It’s this one
SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | Up to 3500MB/S | Compact M.2 SSD Form Factor SK hynix SSD | Internal Solid State Drive with 128-Layer NAND Flash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_CX4ET06HJJFMYZ9DZP7Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have the Strix Scar G533 with Ryzen 5900hx and RTX3070, so that one I can vouch for. From what I`ve seen, the RTX runs cooler and has superior ray tracing as well as dlss, which is still better than FSR. The AMD GPU is a bit faster, though. At the same price, I`d say you can`t go wrong with either. For pure performance, The AE is probably a bit better.
As for the screen, no. I have monitors with 75, 144, 240 and 300 hz and anything above 144 is really not noticeable. It may prevent ghosting in fps titles a tiny bit better, but that`s about it.
Regarding the hard drive: I know that video and still went with a PCIE3.0 SSD, which I`ll recommend here: SK Hynix P31. It`s not widely available, but Amazon Japan has started selling them at a reasonable price. I`m waiting for delivery to Taiwan right now.
According to any review I`ve seen so far, this one is the best laptop m.2 SSD on the market to date. It`s as fast as the Evo 970 Plus but runs much much cooler and consumes less power. Much cooler than the 980 Pro as well. We`re talking 15-20 °C here.
Here is the link:
Great drive, I have one - but I'd go for the SK Hynix P31 for $108 that is on sale today

I simply added a new SSD to the open slot and left the OEM SSD alone. I got a 1 tb SK Hynix Gold P31 because it was fast, cheap, and I saw it recommended for laptops because of its power efficiency.
I'm pretty sure 980 pros will be great since I think they are pretty much the gold standard for nvme ssds. I personally didn't go for them because of price and I heard they run hotter and use more power, however I have never owned one so I could be wrong.
When I finished installing my SSD, I formatted the old drive and did a clean install on my new SSD. If you do clean install, don't forget to download all the necessary drivers and software from the dell website. I got Dell Updates (can also be used to download drivers), Dell Power Manager, and Dell PremierColor and everything has been working great for me.
If you already have stuff installed or don't want to go through all the trouble, cloning should be fine. I cloned my windows install to a nvme on my desktop and nothing wrong happened. I'm pretty sure Samsung ssds come with/can use a software called Samsung Magician, which I heard good things about and I think can be used to clone drives.
SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | Up to 3500MB/S | Compact M.2 SSD Form Factor SK hynix SSD | Internal Solid State Drive with 128-Layer NAND Flash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2CGN4FZ921667WPB1VEM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Sweet, ill look around for that stuff. Earlier i found this one, https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=mp_s_a_1_15_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=M.2+PCIe+3.0+x4+NVMe+%282280%2C+M+key%29&qid=1625669879&sr=8-15-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFJSlUzUVczUjAwS0... , does it look right/reputable?
This one:

Hmm, just installed one today and it worked just fine. For reference, this is the one I bought (was $105 when I bought it as a Prime Day sale):
SK hynix Gold P31 PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | 1TB NVMe | Up to 3500MB/S | Compact M.2 SSD Form Factor SK hynix SSD | Internal Solid State Drive with 128-Layer NAND Flash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_AJAWBKMBJVD8X3X48188?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
RAM: DDR4 3200 MHz.
SSD: P31 Gold is on sale right now. This is the best PCIe 3.0 x4 drive on the market right now at a very fair price.
As long as it is the same kit of RAM it will work.
Performance of your m.2 depends on what you get. A nand drive will have much better performance than sata. Sata is an old standard now. See how the speeds compare: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_90CE8CASBM104BG71WPZ
I would keep using the 1080 until prices drop and gpus are readily available. I would also say the marginal performance boost is not worth the price and power consumption of the 3090 over the 3080.
If you're still in the market, check out these SSDs as well: https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY
The read/write on them is about 1100 MBps (50%) faster for roughly the same price.
The entry level option here is the WD Blue SN550 (or Crucial P1) which is about $90 USD for 1 TB. It will be about 1600-2000 MBps, the Crucial P2 will be about 2400 MBps @ $100, and these SKhynix (very reputable brand - they make about 50% of all RAM on the market) are about $108 for 3400 MBps.
You won't notice much of a difference, but those fractions of a section could matter as technology grows a bit.
SK Hynix has good quality products. They, like all other hardware companies, have a product stack that ranges from low to high quality. They clearly are selling Adata their cheaper flash memory.
The reason I say this is because the SK Hynix’s Gold series nvme drive is actually awesome (the P31) and would be a great replacement for the 8200 pro you have.
SK hynix Gold P31 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD - up to 3500MB/s https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BE7DSBDXQ7529W28R5K2
Yes, it's compatible but there's no point in paying a premium for that drive. The X1EG3 is only capable of supporting PCI-E Gen 3 drives.
Get this drive instead: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/
It's cheaper, is one of the fastest Gen 3 drives, and has lower power consumption that other NVMe drives.
This or SK Hynix Gold P31 Going for $107.99 on Amazon?
I understand you can get 10% off from Newegg for the WD with the newsletter code. Both are good and you probably won't notice the difference so it comes down to price and reviews right? Can you guys vouch for either to help me choose?
This answer.
Don't worry about Windows freaking out about hardware changes, I've never seen Windows request a license for drive migration. Plus, your Windows key is embedded into your laptop's motherboard.
Speaking of which, if you're not dead set on a specific drive, I'd suggest an SK Hynix P31 Gold right now. 1 TB will run around $130.
SK hynix Gold P31 1TB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VNVGFbVVD3GPG
Has the same Read/Write for about 35 bucks cheaper.
You would honestly have to shop around. If you can’t find anything for cheaper, then that PSU is your best bet. I’m not too sure on white themed builds as I’ve never personally done one or experimented with one on PCPartPicker.
Better get 2 TB as 1 TB will fill up fast. But if you're looking for one then I would suggest P31 Gold 1TB.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CDkpFbDVGJ0RA
Was just posted August 18th. Part of me wants to wait, but I feel these might be hard to come by in a couple months (once the mainstream picks up on it). They announced a platinum version that goes up to 2Tb but idk when it'll be released
Thanks guys!
For anyone interested in the SK Hynix Gold P31, it's still available with a 15% coupon on Amazon (134.99-20.24=$114.74): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DKB5LWY/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Why not this one for $7 less that's way faster? https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY
SK Hynix P31 going for USD$107. If you're looking for a 1tb NVMe, this is it: https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY
Is the Hynix Gold P31 1TB superior (when on sale) to this because of its DRAM?

the P31 1tb are $115 on amazon rn
I got this, and I really enjoy it.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_h4PTFbA37ZH0W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I would go with this and make sure to use the 15% coupon, it's a very good SSD for the price and I believe faster than the ones you listed (not completely sure, but definitely not worth paying that much more for those) https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY/
I've posted this a couple of times before but I'll put it here as well:
I replaced the existing NVME drive with a SK hynix Gold P31 mostly due to this review on AnandTech.
>Thanks to good co-design of their 128L 3D NAND and their in-house NVMe SSD controller, SK hynix has completely redefined our standards for NVMe SSD power efficiency and turned in the most surprising benchmark results in my five years of working for AnandTech.
I put the old drive in this enclosure so I have a fast external drive too.
If you are comfortable opening the laptop to replace the SSD, there is no downside and considerable benefit to buying the T14 with the least expensive SSD and upgrading yourself.
I found it pretty simple to do. The only nerve wracking part is unsnapping the bottom cover. I was afraid of breaking a tab. I've opened the Laptop twice without any issues, myself.
I thought about trying that with the ram but 32 is just fine. I did however use two unapproved 1TB NVMe's (they have their own slot in the 1821+ for those that have to use two of their bays) and they work perfectly.

SK hynix P31 going for $107 now: https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY
Are you looking for main storage?
I recently got this https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY with Amazon prime for 107. But this is a m.2 Nvme drive. Not sata
The answer is yes, however it's important to note the differences when you say "M.2", M.2 refers to the form factor. Then you can have M.2 NVMe (PCI-E) or M.2 SATA storage. NVMe is considerably faster than the M.2 SATA that ships with the laptop. I have this in mine now:
^That NVMe SSD is just as fast as Samsung's EVO Pro brand IMO

https://www.anandtech.com/show/16012/the-sk-hynix-gold-p31-ssd-review
This SSD is without question the best NVMe option for laptops.
You may want to take a look at the SK hynix Gold P31 1TB. Benchmarks (synthetic and real world) put it in line with the 970 evo for all burst/sustained workloads at lower power consumption (not a huge deal unless it is for a laptop) and it is $114.

Which is better a deal for an SSD? Why is the base price of that gen 3 one higher, is it better somehow elsewhere? It has slightly better reviews
I recently bought this for my PC after a lot of research:
SK hynix Gold P31 1TB:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY
At the time it was on sale for around $90.
This M.2 NVME drive is on sale right now for $108 and is a fantastic drive. I have several of them. SK Hynix actually makes their own flash memory so their house brand tends to be quite good.
My apology to you Omega2307 for the delay in getting back to you.
So I found this (link below) that tells me that the 512 GB drive is a PCIe 3.0x4 NVMe so one socket supports that drive. There is a 2nd socket that you can add a second drive.

I looked at Amazon and found a couple of drives. I have 1 listed below. As long as the drive supports PCIe 3 (Gen 3) and is either a M.2 2242 SSD (this slot supports up to 512GB - so I am guessing this is where the 512GB drive is located in the Walmart unit) or supports a M.2 2280 SSD (this slot supports up to 1GB).
For: $107.99
I just choose one at random and the # of reviews. There are others on here that know more then I when it comes to which drives are the better ones.
1TB Hynix P31 is still $86.39 https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY
SK Hynix P31 1TB- $86
Crucial P2 1TB $80
Heatsinks I have used before and like:
There is an SSD tier list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B27_j9NDPU3cNlj2HKcrfpJKHkOf-Oi1DbuuQva2gT4/edit#gid=0
The HP S700 Pro ranks under "Mid-Range SATA" so it's not terrible, but for the price (and if you're in the US), you can get something better like the SK Hynix Gold P31 1TB or even better a PCI-E Gen4 drive, if your budget can stretch it.
I have looked at reviews No 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption and performance is good
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wd-black-sn770-ssd-review
here is a better made drive for the $3 cheaper price Shipped by Amazon Sold by SK hynix with AES 256-bit encryption
I bought this SK Hynix drive because from what I read, it ran the coolest and had the best power efficiency while being competitive in speed.
https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Internal-3500MB-Compact/dp/B08DKB5LWY
I'm using one of these in my system right now:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY
I got it when it was on sale around $90.
Crucial is another reliable brand. Samsung drives are also popular.
I would get this SSD instead of the one you have selected:
https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY/
Currently only $5 more (it's $93.49 on sale right now) and it's a top-end PCIe 3.0 drive.
Get the "8x2 CT2K8G4SFRA32A for $66".
For the SSD, here's Amazon's search results for m.2 NVMe gen3
. In addition to the Samsung 980 the other user linked, SK Hynix also has one at similar price points.
My recommendation is a 1TB SSD from Hynix for $109 USD:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DKB5LWY
It's a fantastic drive, and there is an absolutely awesome upgrade video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwelEjE9Ieg
Watching this as I did the upgrade helped me avoid simple mistakes and made the whole process very smooth.
I'd recommend getting a Hynix P31. It's a top-end Gen3 drive that TechPowerUp ranks as faster overall than some good Gen4 drives, and it has insane power efficiency (so it's great for laptops).
The 1TB P31 is currently $110 and occasionally drops ~$93, while the 2TB model is consistently around $200. Gen4 is likely only worth it in a laptop if you do loads of sequential transfers.
Not too bad a price right now? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08DKB5LWY?th=1
Im assuming you only have one drive slot. Meaning youll be swapping your HDD out for an SSD. That being said id shoot for a 1TB SSD.
Here are some good options:

Assuming that "Tacoland" is Mexico, the best 1TB NVME SSD for laptops at/under $150 USD over there is probably the SK Hynix Gold P31.
SK Hynix is another brand that isn’t as popular as Samsung but still makes perfectly good quality storage, 1tb sk hynix
Looks good, but I personally like the SK Hynix P31:
https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY
Also for some reason the Sabrent Rocket 4.0 is around the same price as a 970 evo plus?!?:
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Internal-Extreme-Performance-SB-ROCKET-NVMe4-1TB/dp/B07TLYWMYW
You won't get any benefit in speeds for a 4.0 drive, but you may have better write endurance.
The 1tb hard drive is kind of odd. I would ditch it or go with a higher capacity one, like a 3TB.
I like Keychron keyboards, but Logitech's a solid brand.
Have you considered getting a slightly more expensive headset instead of the logitech speakers?
Pick the cheaper graphics card. Everything right now is way to expensive.
I'd suggest downgrading to a non-rgb ram and get a bigger nvme drive instead of the hard drive unless you need the space, like this sk hynix p31:
https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY
Here's some good non-rgb ram:
My suggestions may have slightly increased the cost :(
The M.2 version is also on sale, both are great for the money. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=emc\_b\_5\_t?th=1

Price of SSDs could changes on what is your country, but if you can buy from amazon.com I suggest the SK Hynix Gold P31 (in-house controller with 128L flash), which is one of the best PCIe 3.0 SSD in the market. Yes, the Silicon Power P34A80 changed the hardware and now it using probably cheaper flash (from 96L to 64L), but it keeps its good quality. The Kingston A2000 is a cheaper PCIe 3.0 (but with DRAM cache) and also it changed the components (from 64L to 96L). The Samsung 970 EVO Plus now uses Elpis controller (the same controller as the 980 PRO) with 128L flash (V6), but it dropped as performance (from around 1500 MB/s to 800 MB/s). Between these the P31 is the best as performance (as reliability the best is the 970 EVO Plus), and it has a good valure for money.
You all ready have a 2230 nvme M2 Pci Express ssd, and you can upgrade to 2280 nvme M2 Pci Express ssd,https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKB5LWY/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apan_glt_fabc_RP2DNDPP4ZX4PE25N3J0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

If I've been reading correctly, people like this M.2 for laptops cause it has top tier performance + very low power usage.

link for those who need it, great drive:

I chose this SSD:
SK hynix Gold P31 PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD | 1TB NVME
Cloned from OEM SSD using CloneZilla (so same partitions, etc.), Sabrent USB-C enclosure, etc.
Copy/Paste of my reply from another thread:
I replaced the existing NVME drive with a SK hynix Gold P31 mostly due to this review on AnandTech.
>Thanks to good co-design of their 128L 3D NAND and their in-house NVMe SSD controller, SK hynix has completely redefined our standards for NVMe SSD power efficiency and turned in the most surprising benchmark results in my five years of working for AnandTech.
I put the old drive in this enclosure so I have a fast external drive too.
Get an SK-Hynix Gold P31 instead. Top tier performance, beating both the 970 Evo Plus and SN750(consumer version of the SN730), and it does so with much lower power consumption. Price is also the same, and occasionally 15% cheaper with frequent sales. I got two of these for $109 each on Amazon Prime Day, but it's frequently available for sale at those prices as well. Regular price is $135.
sk hynix produce good ssds too https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY/
I recommend the SK Hynix. Was $108 during Prime Days.
https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-PCIe-Internal/dp/B08DKB5LWY/
I bought a 1TB SK Hynix Gold P31 for an HP Pavilion TG01-0023w, but I'm only getting about half the advertised speed, so says CrystalDiskMark. Here's the specs for the motherboard; is there anything I can do to get it to x4 bandwidth? I opened up HWiNFO- is Maximum Link Width and Current Link Width something I should be paying attention to?

I have the 250 nit display and don't have a problem with it. I don't ever use the laptop outside.
I couldn't stand the wait for the 400 nit that I really wanted. My laptop is the same as the model you are looking at.
I replaced the existing NVME drive with a SK hynix Gold P31 mostly due to this review on AnandTech.
I added an additional 16GB stick of RAM so that everything is Dual Channel.
I put the old drive in this enclosure so I have a fast external drive too.
I also replaced the trackpad. See my Reddit post here.
I just ordered an X1 Carbon, and I also ordered the 1 TB SK hynix based on this Anandtech Review. X1/P1 going in different directions a bit, but I was also planning on something like a 2TB Samsung until I turned this up. No 2TB version, but if power consumption matters to you at all it may make you reconsider how much you need that second terabyte.
There was a platinum version announced as well, but it looks like they haven't been released and no real timeline given the chip shortage.
Might need to come down a little

The SK Hynix P31 is also worth considering. It's usually cheaper than the Samsung 970 Evo, and I think it also has lower power consumption.

For $40 more you can get the best R5 cpu available, which is the 3600XT and it comes with better cooler, no need for super old design Hyper Evo 2012 anymore,

If you're in the US, I highly recommend getting this drive. It's scores are excellent on reviews when it comes to notebooks. Otherwise, the 970 drives from Samsung are excellent as well.
If you want your new SSD to last longer, I'd recommend installing your new OS on your current drive, although it doesn't make a big difference in terms of longevity.

The Samsung is a good drive but I think it's overpriced at the moment.

Downcosted, moar coars, platinum power supply that is actually available for sale, 3600 MT/s RAM.
I mostly stayed within the implicit choices of the original. If it doesn't violate your preferences, you could:
Change case to lower cost, more air-cooling friendly one
Change CPU cooler to NH-D15 or Scythe Fuma 2.
Downsize PSU to 650 W version of Fractal Ion+, which will be entirely sufficient unless you decide to go dual-GPU or 3090 + overclocked Intel.
Maybe a cheaper motherboard, depending on why you picked that one.
3950 X. (Generally, spending ridiculous amount of money on cooling is less effective than getting a faster part to begin with.)
You are comparing apples to oranges. I can compare a honda to a Lexus because they are cars, but that obviously isnt the same thing.
Here is an example of an equivalent transfer speed of the gen 3/4 controller technology they are using along with 4d NAND
The excessive price is coming from some product modifications to handle form factor and heat dissipation.
This tech already exists and can transfer speeds fast enough to match Active Transfer technology.
Given the fact that a 5TB HDD or a 2TB top of the line SSD can still be an option to just move games around, a 1TB $220 expansion card simply isnt worth it. The value isn't there and competitors are doing it cheaper already, right now.
You can read more about the technology and the companies that are pushing it here. I Give it 3 months before Seagates expansion card is lapsed and hard.
Edit: Further research shows they already have the 2TB model from the architecture manufacturer. Its built and working. I bet Microsoft milks Seagate's 1TB expansion for a solid year before announcing a 2TB model.
