So my lab pup at around 4 months of age started the lovely habit of playing lets dig to China in her water bowl - and then when done with that pick it up and spill every last drop. This would happen a million times a day if I let her. So I had to put her water bowl up on counter and she would ask for a drink and I'd get the bowl and hold it for her. After a few weeks of this, I said enough is enough. We tried every bowl out there, but she was always able to either dig, flip or dump it. Then she'd lie in whatever she had dumped out like "ahhh this is heaven". I finally found this bowl on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Slopper-Stopper-Dripless-Water-Bowl/dp/B079P8W4RS and although it was expensive it completely solved my problem. In fact, now my pup is 14 months old, and doesn't need this bowl anymore, but she keeps drinking from it instead of the regular bowl I put down. So, I guess its here to stay.
