There are various waterproof mp3 players. This is my favorite one. Bluetooth has awful range Underwater though so I mainly use the mp3 player part of it. It's magical as Hell to do. Like dancing in space.
Listening to music underwater is pretty much my favorite thing ever. I've used a lot of waterproof headphones. The best one in my experience is the [Sony Waterproof Walkman](sony waterproof and dustproof walkman with bluetooth wireless technology nw-ws623 (black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071NTXYNY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glc_fabc_15CJ7VECR853W1GBT3ZV). It has a built in mp3 player (4gb) and Bluetooth. There is models that don't have Bluetooth so be sure you get one that has it, if that's what you want. Bluetooth has almost no range under water though. You'll have to take your phone in the tank and keep it close to your head (No BT headphones get good range underwater especially if the phone is also underwater). You'll get much better sound, stability and range using the Mp3 player part instead. There is also specific ear pieces to use for underwater be sure to use those, they come with it.
I like these - can bluetooth OR has built in memory to load songs, won;t fall off, has ambient sound mode so you can still hear the room if you wish
This isn't exactly the one I have, they keep changing the models a little bit, prices vary widely

EDIT: Also is sweat and waterproof!
Can link via Bluetooth to mobile or stores up to 4 or 8gb to be used as an MP3 player
I use these: Sony Walkman 623
There is a cheaper version without bluetooth. You can just rip the book to mp3 and load it on them. They are really good, high quality build and very comfortable
You should get a set of underwater headphones. I love swimming but being able to listen to music while swimming is flat out magical. It's like dancing in space. [This is the set I love.](sony waterproof and dustproof walkman with bluetooth wireless technology nw-ws623 (black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071NTXYNY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glc_fabc_CZNXG4Q5MRJ2GCQFXQ5B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) It has a 4gb mp3 player and has Bluetooth. Bluetooth has no range under water though so I mainly use the the mp3 player. [They make a set that is just the player. ](sony nwws413lm 4gb sports wearable mp3 player (blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CQMN2J0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glc_fabc_RKHCV4M97MN2HF5PH23D?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)
yea the snugs seems a bit weird. I think I'm gonna pick up these. Thanks for everyone's help!
Apple Watch. It does great counting laps when you make contact with the wall. I don’t flip turn and it counts the laps perfect. I also use the swim.com app and auto load to strava. I don’t worry about the Apple health app. I have used the polar H10 sensor that you can put on the goggle strap. It worked great, as advertised but my issue with it was the indicators were just a couple flashing LEDs. I never knew if the sensor started. I also used a Samsung frontier watch, but the GPS didn’t always track, especially in the city with tall buildings surrounding the pool. TL/DR - Apple Watch!! As a bonus, get the Sony waterproof MP3
