I'd been using an adhesive-backed mount for years with a Roku Ultra with no problems. The Apple TV however is significantly heavier than the Roku but stubborn me bought a mount for the Apple TV anyway. I had zilch confidence in the adhesive that came with the mount so I used industrial grade (10lb) Velcro. Three times. I then remembered a handy 6-inch Stanley TV Top Shelf gizmo which mounts to the top rim of the TV; NO adhesives, it stays put and provides a clear line of sight for the Siri remote (even though the Siri is RF).
Totally portable, it comes is three sizes (6, 12 and 24 inch) and leaves no marks.
You can use something like this to mount speakers on the top of you monitor, if you have no space to the sides. Make sure you angle them with foam to point them to your ears.
Soundbars are horrible.
