Ya exactly. I just picked up a pretty sweet rack as well, so definitely want to get a legit rack mount machine
Edit: got this rack https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Knock-Down-Cabinet-Telecommunications-Equipment/dp/B000IZ95CQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr0_1?keywords=Startech+durarak+22u&qid=1576447350&sr=8-1-fkmr0 for $50
So I just recently upgraded the hell out of my home network which formerly consisted of a D-Link DIR-890L AC3200 wireless router, a Netgear GS108Tv2 switch, and an Arris SB6190 cable modem to this:
>Ubiquiti UniFi USG-PRO-4
>Ubiquiti UniFi US-24-250W PoE Switch
>Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC-HD Access Point
>All managed through a Ubiquiti Cloudkey
>Netgear CM1000 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem (just got Gigabit!)
The rack itself is a StarTech 22U which I got an amazing deal through Amazon Business at my old work.

Let me help you out quick, bud. A Poweredge 2420 is available right now on ebay for $700.
That being said, they're a discontinued product from Dell, so you're going to get limited support from your vendor. Let me low-ball you like some jerk on ebay might and assume that you'll get a minimum of $1000 for both racks if you sell them.
That's still a heck of a good trade - good cash to build your home lab. Here's that Startech rack on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000IZ95CQ/
It's decently reviewed and costs about $690. Personally, I'd smile at the fortune of 2021 you've had so far.
I'd take the rack from my friend, sell both the Dell racks, cut my buddy a $250 check for the help, and build out a hell of a home lab.
Congrats on the luck man 😊👍
StarTech 22U Rack, which I got through my old work on Amazon Business for $625.
I have a 22U StarTech cabinet. Highly recommended. Built very well. Full of heavy equipment with more equipment on top and I can still roll it, with much effort, on a carpeted floor. Not easy to assemble, however.

From the top!
The R620 and R720 are racked using generic rails (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XXDOV74/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
The R210ii is literally sitting on the switch right now but I have proper rails on the way. Now I think it may be a waste of $50 lol.
The R720xd has proper Dell ReadyRails and I love them.
Funny story I had the extended battery pack unit for the UPS come today but Amazon dropped it hard somewhere and the whole thing was busted open so now I gotta wait up to 3 weeks to get the replacement AND have to go to the UPS store to ship it off. PITA man.
Software config is pretty simple. Have a 6.7 vcenter non-clustered, no DRS. Mostly just trying to learn more. Have a couple DCs, obligatory Plex and Radarr stack, virtual pi-hole. Trying to get into docker cause I hear it's all the rage but I'm having a bit of trouble as I cant stop eyeing hardware rather than shoving my face into Docker on Linux reading material.
TL:DR - pretty server stack that basically just does Plex but is learning ready.
