We use this StarTech eraser and have a receipt printer connected. We throw the disk in it, choose the DoD option, and a couple hours later when it's done it prints off a little receipt with the serial number, the method used to wipe, and there's a signature line for chain of custody if you want but whoever wiped the drive just signs it and we file that away for a few years (just in case).
If you work with computers, at some point a hardware eraser is worth it. Plug a drive in and let it run for a day. See: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011NLY9FQ/
For drives, these things do it all:
> StarTech.com USB 3.0 Hard Drive Eraser Dock for 2.5" & 3.5" SATA/ IDE SSD HDD + mSATA & M.2 - Standalone Secure Erase Wiper & Sanitizer (SDOCK1EU3P) > https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011NLY9FQ/
I'm assuming your going to make this go even further.
you'd need a standalone device - https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Standalone-Eraser-Dock-Drives/dp/B011NLY9FQ - have one at the office, it works really well.
it'd be cheaper to get a new ssd though
