Yea I bought from Amazon cause it is the only way to return it here in Canada, otherwise from Steelcase I pay return shipping and get hit with a 20% restocking fee. It’s an ugly ass pink lemonade one but it was the only option. Steelcase Series 2 Office Chair, Pink Lemonade https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08NCW53HN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_EQ5Z85Z0AW439ES180SN
What appeals to you most about the Leap? I have a new Leap V2 and a Series 2 with back mesh in the same room in my house. Yes, the Leap is special and a little nicer in many ways, but the Series 2 with back mesh (and adjustable lower back support position) is also a fantastic chair. It has great back curvature and lower back support, very good adjustable arm rests, and a very good cushion (some people find it a little too hard, but it breaks in and a little firmness is better for long study sessions).
I could easily live with just the Series 2.
Prices seem to have crept close to $700 since I bought mine, but you can find some excellent deals on Amazon if you are flexible with the color. For example, I found this "Pink Lemonade" on carpet casters for only $450 (it's barely pink). it's the version without the mesh "sock" on the back and without the adjustable lower back height, but should be a very good chair. I haven't checked all the colors, but this one is $650 and has the adjustable lower back and the knit "sock" over the back mesh.
Another option is the Series 1, although the back is much shorter and the arm rests are nowhere near as nice (my son has it). The Series 2 is worth the extra money, especially if you get a discounted color.

If your budget allows (you're looking atleast $600 - $1300+ US), I highly recommend Steelcase as their chairs are designed for comfort and support. I've tried one of their chairs at work (my supervisor's chair) and it was very comfy.
If budget is a problem, I highly recommend looking into a set of Purple seat cushions. I bought a royal seat cushion from bed&bath last year. This cushion fixed my back pain in spite I use my cushion with a wooden dining chair. It never went flat on me, and it's comfy to this very day. However, I will add that it will add about an inch of height to your seat, so depending on you, your legs might dangle.
