What is Reddit's opinion of SteelSeries Apex Gaming Keyboard?

So, I have a bit of a keyboard konundrum here.

Meet the SteelSeries Apex. I love this layout. I play MMOs, and I'm looking for a truly ridiculous number of extra macro keys, as seen here. The problem is, this is a rubber-dome board, and SteelSeries isn't exactly the most reliable brand either. I've seen lots of mechanical keyboards with macro keys, but usually no more than 5-6 along the left side of the keyboard, which doesn't strike me as a particularly useful number of keys. I'd want at least 12 (one full hotbar).

I've been looking around for a keyboard matching these criteria (mechanical, large number of extra keys) for a couple days now, but I'm struggling to find anything. What would you guys recommend?

[Also, tangential bonus question: Foot pedals? I've been considering mapping my modifier keys to foot switches to reduce the amount of contortion my fingers have to do to pull off certain combinations, but I'm having a hard time finding a clear winner among the choices I've found. If any of you out there happen to make use of foot switches/pedals, I'd love to hear from you.]

I've played with a lot of switches in Frys but nothing really stands out to me. Unless I type all day I don't know if I'd like it or not.

I've been using this and the response is slow and clunky, plus its way too big which is why I'm looking for something more portable and compact.

I've also played with my brothers K70 for a bit and that felt ok. Much better than what I've been using but I don't know if it's ideal for me.

I remember when the original APEX was $90 (MSRP) for RGB lighting, media keys, a 10-key keypad, macro keys, and a solid build.

I'm thinking about getting a mechanical keyboard but don't have the money because I'm 12 and not spoiled like some other 12 year olds are. I was hoping that here will have some good inexpensive keyboards, and some reviews of some that I've been thinking about. The SteelSeries Apex the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid (Need some opinions on switches for rapid tapping of a single key, if you know osu!) and the Logitech G213 . Any help welcome.

I have a Steelseries APEX keyboard plus cash for the 558/G23. I can also offer a Tactical Tailor MultiCam dump pouch in addition to a Rothco 3-day assault pack in coyote brown. Mainly willing to rid myself of the keyboard - I know you're looking for rent.

The keys are non-mechanical. No visible wear from my fingers, no.

I'm looking at the Steelseries Apex, it's $99.99 and backlit, it has nice backlighting options to it based on some reviews I've seen.

here are two keyboards i've been looking at: both have plenty of macro keys and back lighting. the steel series apex has fully customizable backlighting, 22 dedicated macro keys, 2 diagonal arrow keys, independent media keys, and a larger space bar. the meka g-unit has 12 dedicated macro keys, mx-black key-switches, red back-lighting, and independent media keys. the right shift key is smaller on the g-unit, which some people seem to dislike. it is also available with red-switches, but with only certain keys being back-lit.
