The headset I use currently is the SteelSeries Arctis 3, it’s £50-60 on Amazon and at the moment it’s been a great headset. If you don’t really like the look of it or anything else, Astro’s are a decent option. I had two Turtle Beach Recon 50X’s and both broke in about a year. I guess that’s not too bad considering it’s a £20~ headset.
I saw someone else talk about Microsoft Rewards, I’d say try and do it daily, as it’s free money practically and you can get free games if you save up enough. r/MicrosoftRewards is a great place to ask if you’re interested.
I find steel series to be fantastic quality. Got this set for my wife (budget version of my 7 pro series). Really great sound from mic and speakers alike. SteelSeries Arctis 3

i have these - v solid for the price
I had the same problem when trying to use my HyperX Cloud (PS4) on my PC. Because there are individual channels for your headphones and microphone, it’s fairly unlikely that your headset will work. I don’t know anything about a PC “adapting” or whatever, so that may be worth trying, but otherwise you’re probably going to have to purchase a new headset or splitter.
I don’t know much about splitters.
If you’re looking to buy a headset, the one I use is a SteelSeries Arctis 3 (2019) .
It’s $60 and is compatible with all platforms, which means it can work on your PC and PS4.
Hope this helps!

Ok cool- these are really solid, but will be right up on that $100 limit.
these are super solid for the price as well and will get you what you need.
i use these which are great if you have a big head or wear glasses like myself. the mic is also great, which would be good for you since you're talkin to the gf. it's probably the mid tier option between the three.
let me know if you got any questions
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07G12Z1HR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_pR2HFbZ2C9D1W, was thinking about these never heard anything about them so I'm not sure about em maybe someone knows if they're good or not.
Personally I would recommend the Steelseries Arctis 3. They don't cost much, the mic is amazing, it comes with an adapter, and it has virtual surround sound(which I see as a gimmick) but it's nice to have if you feel you'll benefit from it. Even though the headset has surround sound the price is still pretty low. The Logitech 430s are pretty good but I definitely think it's worth the extra 30 bucks for higher mic and sound quality and the significantly more comfortable experience. The weird ski goggles band on the headset really makes it feel like there's almost nothing on your head. Also, the earcups on the Arctis 3s are very soft and breathable while the g430s are more breathable but pretty stiff and not that comfortable.

[EDIT] I forgot to mention this the Arctis 3 is compatible with the switch and PC. The base cable is one 3.5mm Jack and it comes with a splitter for PC. The adapter is pretty long so I would recommend plugging it into the back of your computer and routing the end hear your keyboard so it's easy to plug in and unplug https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G12Z1HR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_tRy2BbSKWN3P1
Cheap & cheerful: $69.99 Not top of the line by any means, but love them just the same. These affordable headphones have ruined communicating with randoms, as all I can hear is their shitty $2 mics and desktop speakers blaring in the background.
