A waste of what...$10 over 2 years? From my question involving using different grades of silver, I would've thought you'd understand that's of little concern to me.
Sure, I can, but I'd rather not with my Ithaka clone: Magoo. Space is a premium along the core where the NR legs lay in (which should be prioritized for wicking) and simply going to a larger diameter to increase conductivity wouldn't be the most ideal option.
I'm not concerned about chasing clouds. I'm after maintaining my equipment for as long as possible and using it in the most efficient way possible.
Thanks for RBA 101 notes. If you read my question, you'd see that I'm trying to determine if .999 silver is going to be too soft compared to .925. That's the question. Leave your conjecture of my ignorance to yourself. :)
Edit: Here's the math to understand the difference is extremely negligible:
Extremely conservative estimates are (not recycling the legs, which I usually get 3-4 builds per nickel that I have on hand, I'd imagine that silver may last longer since it has less resistance and wouldn't degrade as much):
2 inches per build, a build per week.
60 builds for the silver, 137 for the nickel.
52 weeks in a year, the nickel will last over 2, silver for over 1.
Difference of $10 extra spent on the silver over 2 years.
