yeah, and whether they say it or not, western leaders know that the coup would have been good for the west. If the goal is seriously to get Turkey into the EU so that it can project power into the Muslim world - and keep radical Islam out of Europe - the last thing they want is a rabid frothing-at-the-mouth Islamofascist Turkey. "The West" wants a stable secular Turkey that can be easily aligned with EU interests, At least, that's what this guy's book says:
