I have only one 29” MTB that I transport around. I didn’t get a hitch installed, but I have the premium trim, so I bought some generic crossbars off eBay, then a generic bike rack on Amazon.

I don’t have plus size tires, but they’re wider than normal and it fits. It’s a good set up. I’ve driven 60mph on the highway and it’s stable.
Well i was orignially looking at getting the new OEM ones that are all black from VW, but they're $150+ a piece and I needed two. So i searched Amazon and found some, Swagman I believe, for like $40 a piece so I bought one to test it out. I didn't mind if it sucked, I'd only be out $40. It ended up working great!
Bought another one and they've both held up great for months now. Only thing was that I tightened all the bolts on them myself just to be sure. It also uses like a claw/clamp arm action thingy to stabilize the bike, and it seems kinda flimsy but you just have to be sure to tightened the clamps all the way and me and my gf's bikes don't budge.
I recently upgraded to a new bike with wider tires and the wheels don't sit in the groove all the way but it's still been fine. But if I were running a wider tire (thinking of going to a new tubeless setup) I'd be curious to see how it does. Also, if your bikes are full sus, they're a bit heavier so I'd also be curious.
This is the bike rack from Amazon. Quite sturdy and has a lock. Worked like a pro!

For a bike.
I have and continue to use it to this day. I have the premium trim, so I’ve already got the roof rails. I’ve added these to it, which were all pretty simple to install.

The brand is Thule!
This is the main system that’s used and under it you can find the different components you need:
To mount the bike on the rack system, I used this:

It’s a lot cheaper than what Thule offers for bike mounts and it gets the job done well!
Something like this your roof might work? https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000SL1AEG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_1JCCD9AHM7YBW9QEXFRT
I would go with Toyota's removable roof rack, then get 2 bike racks

Hatch rack isn't good because it's things bouncing in the back and the hitch requires increased complexity and costs more to setup
This one off Amazon worked for me

Picked up 2 of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SL1AEG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and was surprised, like many reviewers, at how well they stand up our MTBs. I'm bolting them to the bed rails using some after market nuts and bolts.
