To save my finger nails, I use some of these to do exactly that. Hobby lobby has some of a different brand, but are identical. They work great for all sorts of stuff, but normally 5 or 6 will buff though a full MG.
I use Tamiya Panel Line Accent. It’s a very thin paint applied with a small applicator that works via capillary action. Easy to do, and cleanup is simple with a craft swab, like these. I recommend craft swabs in particular because the tips are more densely packed than your typical q-tip, so there’s less risk of messing up the panel line. Also, I strongly recommend investing in a good pair of nippers and a craft knife. I personally use a pair of GodHands with a cheaper pair for bigger cuts. With good technique and good nippers, you can minimize the amount of nub work you have to do.
Also, get small q-tips, like these, as they make getting rid off excess panel liner easy https://www.amazon.com/Tamiya-America-Cotton-Triangle-TAM87106/dp/B0026IBC3I
