thanks for your answer, it seems like it's not too different from acrylics. have you ever tried linseed oil, or gamsol to thin your paint with? that's what i typically use. I like them for small crafts, they might be useful for you with clean up
I'd advise using hobby cotton swabs, as they are many times more firm, and much smaller. They tend to retain the panel line. Cleanup material more tightly, making it much less likely to run into the seams. Something like this

For some panels though, it's still going to be a matter of care, or just not work very well. Much like the other commenter said, the panel lines are just too shallow.

These work really well for that, be careful in the panel lines. I have found that the paint tends to be thinner in those area so the acetone will eat through the paint really quickly.
