My scale has a timer but I find a dedicated timer more convenient to press and read I use a timer for both drip and espresso.

Something like this. I got it for coffee but use it for EVERYTHING, kitchen or not...it's so tiny, magnetic, and convenient. I know Smartphones do this too but that's just not half as practical.
