Old house / grid = rust (orange) in pipes. I'm in a newer build on RWD#5 and no orange stage 1, even after neglecting to change them for over a year. Flip side, I go RV'ing to an older camp ground on well water, boom, orange in my filter, just from a couple nights stay.
You could get a TDS, total dissolved solids, meter. It won't show you the makeup of your water but it's a starting point. https://www.amazon.com/Lxuemlu-Professional-Temperature-0-9999ppm-Aquariums/dp/B0BGYFJ6Q1
I'm also a fan of a water hardness tester as that's what I'm mainly battling with RWD#5 water: https://www.amazon.com/Hach-145300-Total-Hardness-Model/dp/B008FM7WLU
Hardness = calcium = unsightly white build up on faucets, clogged heads, and soap that isn't as effective at getting things cleaned.
