I don't want it to be perceived like I'm a drone for Teach For America, but the model that we're trained on has recently gone public as Teaching As Leadership. Basically, they cut out the middle man and wade through the most up-to-date research in what works in challenging schools (I'm in one too!), and distill it down to a few hundred pages. It's a bit of a dense read, but it may help change your approach on a few things. It's definitely helped me improve as a teacher.
