I used an extension cable I found on amazon.
TeamProfitcom Small Mini USB 3.0 19/20 Pin Internal Extension Header Adapter Cable for Motherboard 6 inches (2 Pack) [link]
Yeah, it was dumb. I put a USB 3 riser extension cable on the 90deg connecter that is quite a bit more flexible than the front panel USB cable also I ended up zip tying the USB cable to another another cable bundle behind the motherboard tray to 1) hold it in place, and 2) remove the strain on the 90deg connecter.
Using the short extension cable allowed me to angle the front panel USB cable quite a bit easier
This is the short extension riser thing I used to get through the motherboard tray
I got one of these USB 3.0 adapters that gets rid of the ridiculously large and bulky plug that everyone has decided to make standard. You can bend the cables right around nice and tight.
Why they come as a two pack, I don't know.
haha yeah. had the same problem - because of this unnecessarily huge USB3 plug.
I used a flexible 19pin USB3 extension cable - something like this.
