He's a crackpot schlocky spy novelist that was last a journalist 10 years ago.
Oh, and the book he published last year claims that marijuana is causing a secret epidemic of violence and psychosis that the media is trying to hide.

He's a trash nutjob with no medical training that should be listened to by exactly zero people.

If you're actually interested in knowing facts, I recommend this book. Berenson is not anti marijuana at all! It's a great book. Eye opening with regard to age and use.

Former guest and COVID truther Alex Berenson is a big believer in this idea as well. He wrote a whole book about it.

So it's interesting how the underlying article goes from Sen. Cornyn's case against immediate legalization/decriminalization (totally two different things, but they're conflated in the article so I'll lump them together here) to Speaker Pelosi's defense of the bill that passed the House (HR 3617) to the article author's citation of Alex Berenson's book Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence (and a subsequent article in a Hillsdale College "free speech" journal) as a source.
Just clicking around, it becomes apparent that Berenson's book and its assertions are far from settled science. Wikipedia lists the general debate and the documented sources, there's an interesting explainer from Vox and a summation from The Guardian. Interesting final quote from Berenson at the end of the Guardian piece: “You can believe that cannabis is a real risk for psychosis and violence and still believe it should be legal,” he said. “That’s a totally reasonable position to take. Just tell the truth.” Indeed.

That's not an article, that's a blog post.
The particular writer of that blog post has also been consistently spreading misinformation about case rates among the vaccinated in an effort to provoke fear - this is not the first time he's done this.
That blogger has also been branded "the pandemic's wrongest man" - and in fact, the reason he's posting this on substack is because his Twitter account was banned for spreading COVID-19 misinformation!
The panidemic isn't Berenson's first grift - he's also the author of Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence, which makes claims (pulled straight from the Amazon page) such as:
> - Almost no one is in prison for marijuana; - A tiny fraction of doctors write most authorizations for medical marijuana, mostly for people who have already used; - Marijuana use is linked to opiate and cocaine use. Since 2008, the US and Canada have seen soaring marijuana use and an opiate epidemic. Britain has falling marijuana use and no epidemic; - THC—the chemical in marijuana responsible for the drug’s high—can cause psychotic episodes. After decades of studies, scientists no longer seriously debate if marijuana causes psychosis.
I just heard on the going west podcast, in part two of their coverage of this case, that Gabby and Brian were pot smokers. I never followed them online, so I haven't verified this. However, it is crucial to acknowledge the role that contemporary marijuana in all of its forms plays in psychotic rage. Intense psychotic breaks can be triggered through marijuana use. Those breaks are most common in people in their late teens and early twenties. If they were regular smokers, it is entirely possible that the marijuana triggered a psychotic break in Brian. It's curious that they both mentioned being mentally ill with OCD when talking to the police. Maybe they misdiagnosed themselves, or Brian misdiagnosed himself. The pattern is different from that of alcohol, which is more of a release of inhibitions and rage. Violent psychotic breaks involving marijuana are more likely to involve intense paranoia, where the mentally ill person sees other people as a threat or even as demons or some other hallucination and feels the need to kill them. Certainly, Gabby appeared bullied, submissive and terrified when talking to the police during the traffic stop outside of Arches. Maybe what happened is a mix of marijuana-induced psychosis and habitual domestic abuse from Brian.

Take a look at Tell Your Children by Alex Berenson
He's interviewed here and says the study was using marijuana 10x increased the risk.
There's a huge rush to legalize, they're rug sweeping the study results because both private industry and state tax coffers stand to make a lot of money.
It's not harmless for a percentage of the population, and we have no way of knowing which ones will be negatively affected.
The next ten years are going to be a shit show.
Of course, Reddit is so pro marijuana, you'll never hear that kind of info here.
Please don’t hurt my feelings - you are triggering my emotions and I will contact your local law enforcement for hate speech and infringing on my reproductive rights.
I shared a story about how President Trump lifted my soul from the iron grip of depression, and how he has inspired me to become the best person I could possibly be.
I have used my own wages to fund charities that are fighting abortion aka the mass murder of stunningly beautiful little babies, false rape accusations, male rights, pushing back on this so called “global warming” aka climate change, etc.
I have quit marijuana because I realised how destructive it truly is, and I’m now actively campaigning against legalisation. Please read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Tell-Your-Children-Marijuana-Violence/dp/1982103663
Murders. Alex Berenson has a book that came out this year in January 8, titled Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence. For example, some crazy pot-head chick stabbed her boyfriend 108 times even stabbed his Siberian husky. Then she took an 8-inch serrated knife and stabbed herself in the neck. Yeah!
Doing this would harm the mental health of black people disproprotionately.
