This is a totally personal decision. We used clothe starting on the day he was born, but had an agreement that if it was too stressful or annoying we wouldn’t do it until things settled down. Those first few weeks can be a blur and there’s a lot going on. I had a c-section, was figuring out breastfeeding, etc. but the laundry didn’t bother us and it was easy for us to incorporate into our “routine”. We bought some newborn AOI’s and Pockets from amazon, I really liked the pockets - the AOI’s were great in the beginning but our baby grew pretty fast so they leaked a lot after a few weeks.

I know lots of people use prefolds and covers, that’d be a cheaper route I reckon. But if you want to buy the same diapers we bought I’ll include the link. They’re cheapies, so who knows how long they’ll last - but our boy fit into the size one diapers after 8 weeks so they worked for the short window we needed them.
