I just had my contractor install a dancing pole for me. The installed pole consists of two parts plus the bottom and top bases. Three longest parts from this set plus this extension. The total length is about 120 inches, and this is how it presents (don't mind the mess, I'm in the middle of a home improvement project). On the other side of the ceiling, my contractor added several 4x4s to reinforce the rafters to ensure they provide enough support when the pole expands between the floor and the ceiling.
I'm not sure if it's installed properly, though. Is it supposed to move like this in the video? When pushing or pulling the pole, it kind of changes its shape, as if it's "breaking" at one of the connections. When spinning, you can see the pole doesn't revolve perfectly around its own axis in straight line. Moreover, it's squeaky and not entirely smooth when rotating by hand - feeling more friction at a certain angle. Squeaky sound here, note: I removed the non-structural cover from the top to make the rod visible.
The pole itself seems stable enough to support my 230 lbs body spinning on it. And an increased friction at a certain angle cannot be felt with my body on the pole. Still, I'm concerned something is not right. Therefore, my questions are:
Thank you in advance.
