Hey, I trained at Playhouse West for about 3 and a half years in the 2000s and really benefitted a lot! Was able to access a lot more of myself and work with others who were all searching for their 'thing' too. It's a Meisner system school but I was able to take from it what I needed and apply other training that I've had to build a skill set that worked for me. It's also a community who work together out of school with plenty of opportunities to work towards material for a reel. It's been a while, admittedly, since I've been there but, from what I've seen online (I keep in touch with them), it's still one of the best in LA. for my money. When they reopen (still closed under Covid, of course), they offer free auditing so you can try before you buy! Good luck! https://www.facebook.com/TheOfficialPlayhouseWest/
Two books I've gotten a ton of useful advice and thoughtful direction are:
The Actor and The Target (Donnellan) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BHOSEQ0/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
and
How to Stop Acting (Guskin) https://www.amazon.com/How-Stop-Acting-Revolutionary-Developing-ebook/dp/B005OR08NI/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=how+to+stop+acting&qid=1595450349&s=digital-text&sr=1-2
