Hi, I would definitely read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Antidepressant-Solution-Step-Step-Overcoming/dp/074326973X
I tried to get off of Lexapro several times without success. I think its critical to follow the tapering program recommended by this doctor and then probably checking in with your prescribing doctor, or therapist, at least once a month
I don't know any people who were on Lexapro during pregnancy, but I highly recommend reading this book to taper: https://www.amazon.com/Antidepressant-Solution-Step-Step-Overcoming/dp/074326973X
Given what I have gone through trying to get off of Lexapro I would definitely try to get off before pregnancy.
Here is the book: https://www.amazon.com/Antidepressant-Solution-Step-Step-Overcoming/dp/074326973X
I highly recommend this book, having been through some really rough anti depressant withdrawal, to the extent of having to start taking the SSRI again, please save yourself the pain and read it
you are tapering too quickly. I highly recommend this book:

Make sure you read this book to taper off of Anti Depressants

You already know your Nmom doesn't have your best interest at heart, so there's no need to listen to her. She might as well complain about STRANGE SUBSTANCES IN TAP WATER or whatnot.
Also, if you are on mood-affecting meds (SSRI or similar), please do NOT ever quit them cold turkey. Quitting those things can fuck you up worse than you were before. The only studies there were a while ago proved that some people still had withdrawal-induced problems 6 months later, when the longest study ended.
If you ever decide to try getting rid of the meds, do it when you are happy and functional and well stress-free, and taper down very, very carefully - like max -25% of whatever you are taking, then waiting 2-3 weeks until the fits calm down, and then rinse and repeat. Prepare with pill-cutter and patience when you come down to having quarters of the last pill (or mixing it to an amount of water and then dividing that) because that's damned frustrating, I can tell you. If you ever want to know more about getting off the meds, take a look of http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/074326973X (if you are in US) or http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1845292561 (if in Europe) before doing anything. It's the same book, just using different brand names.
I'm only putting it here because the doctors aren't always aware of this, mainly because they get their information from the medicine factories and studies financed by these companies.
