Hey everyone,
Just finished Ludo de Witte's Assassination of Lumumba. It's about the very tragic, but important to understand, murder of Congo's first prime minister via brutal American/Belgian proxy "rebels". The book is excellent in that it doean't tread on eggshells when unravelling the grim details and conspiracy behind one of Africa's saddest losses of political life; one that could have changed the course of Congo and her people. Definitely a must for anyone wishing to learn mlre about how the DRC is where it is today.
Are you just covering the Siege? There is a great book about post-independence Congo called The Assassination of Lumumba. It does mention the Siege but it might be overkill for what you need. I got it in the library.
