Adapted this from "The Best Veggie Burgers on the Planet" (https://www.amazon.com/Veggie-Burgers-Planet-revised-updated/dp/1592338844/) and wow this good stuff. Puts almost all of my other veggie burgers to shame. This recipe has nut butter, and you can substitute any type you want. It also uses wheat gluten, which helps it stick together. You can substitute the sauerkraut with onions, garlic or even vegan bacon bits.

Ingredients
1 cup (96 g) Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) granules
1 scant cup (225 ml) vegetable broth
1⁄4 cup (25 g) sauerkraut
1 cup (144 g) vital wheat gluten flour
1⁄4 teaspoon liquid smoke
1⁄2 cup (60 g) nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon (8 g) garlic powder
1 tablespoon (8 g) onion powder
1⁄4 cup (64 g) cashew butter
1⁄4 cup (60 ml) pure maple syrup
1⁄4 cup (60 ml) vegetable oil
1⁄4 cup (68 g) barbecue sauce
