May Allah make it easy for you.
Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. People do not gather in the houses of Allah, reciting the book of Allah and studying it together, but that tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will cover them, angels will surround them, and Allah will mention them to those near him.

Number one thing after shahadah or testifying belief in one God alone and Muhammad ﷺ as project is to pray the 5 daily prayers.
This is a great English Quran with tafsir or explanations of verses in light of events of the Prophet’s life and is verified by Al Azhar the premier Islamic university

Maybe I'm missing something here, but everything you do is in the public sphere? I mean it could be, I've lived in multiple Muslim countries, but even then, you can choose to stay home and not go to the masjid for prayer. And at home you have the privacy to pray or not.
Again, if you are sincere, please read the book I linked above. And then if English is your most fluent tongue, then I suggest reading this translation of the Qu'ran.
Hey, I think this is a good English translation you can read. It's written in a way that is more digestible, without taking away from the meaning in Arabic. A lot of other translations are pretty old and the English just does not hold up today.
Well, any real introduction to Islam is going to be focused on how well you resonate with the Quran.
This is often the most recommended Quran translation and explanation for newcomers
If you’re a native English speaker, this may the best version. I find it to be the easiest to read and comprehend.
Clear Quran - Dr. Mustafa Khattab- (https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Quran-Dr-Mustafa-Khattab/dp/097730096X/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?adgrpid=119596548177&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInLiO883y9QIV-D6tBh2MnAYsEAAYASAAEgJvufD_BwE&hvadid=518728082857&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=1027744&hvnetw=g&hvq...)
Make sure to buy a physical copy. The free online websites almost never have important (or even in general) footnotes. The Clear Quran by Mustafa khattab is the best English translation atm. Amazon link
For understanding the religion of Islam a good start is the Quran itself.
Sura Mulk (chapter 67) and Sura Ya-seen (chapter 36) are two short examples of what the Quran is like. Muslims usually read those two chapters daily. I think they are like 2-3 pages each so they aren’t traditional chapter lengths.
Uuuhm Amazon is the usually the most convenient for buying books but if it is shipped to your address you may have a problem. Maybe ship it to a friends place? My favourite English translation is by Mustafa khattab
That simply isn’t true, sorry ur friend told u that. Sometimes authors take the liberty to add things in brackets to make sentences make sense. Remember arabic and English are completely different in their makeup. This translation is a gold standard for non Muslim English speaker looking to read the Quran here is the Amazon link:

Salaam sister, the best English translation is The Clear Quran by Mustafa khattab. Wish you the best! https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Quran-Dr-Mustafa-Khattab/dp/097730096X/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=3QMSU18LMCL9G&dchild=1&keywords=the+clear+quran&qid=1631868640&sprefix=the+clear+quran&sr=8-1
Salam I’ll try answering all ur questions:
There is nothing u need to do from a legal context, u can walk into a mosque and let the imam know u want to take ur shahada, u obviously have the belief already so I would even consider u a Muslim at heart now, ur just publicizing what’s in ur heart.
Mosques are for everyone, born muslims, converts, non muslims etc, there is no segregation like that all is welcome.
I’m not sure what the Covid restrictions are in ur area, so the sign ups depend on that.
If you don’t know arabic the best translation in English is “The Clear Quran” by Mustafa Khattab. Here is an Amazon link:

In Islam you don’t have to change ur name, however if u want to ur most welcome to, if u fall in love with a name ur most welcome to pick it for urself.
YouTube is your best friend to learn to pray, also of course please take it easy on urself, everything comes with practice. Also at ur local mosque they will hopefully be able to provide u with resources.
The overwhelming majority of scholars deem the hijab as the obligatory one the niqab, u can think of as like going the big extra mile like a nun, but is not obligatory. Abaya is culture and u don’t have to wear it at all, as long as u choose to stay modest according to the standards of Allah u can wear whatever u please. If abaya makes it easier for u then go for it.
Message me if u have anymore questions!
Hi, someone mentioned this (link below) Quran in a recent post here and it seems like a proper place to start for beginners, it has great reviews on Amazon and should be proper for you. In addition to the Quran, I recommend listening to lectures by scholars on YouTube such as Nouman Ali Khan, Omar Suleiman and Mufti Menk and many more. They'll make topics easier to understand. Also you should give the autobiography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by Yasir Qadhi a listen, you may not understand every single term but it will be a great introduction of him. It is quite lengthy though. Take your time :) Lastly, please do have a listen to recitations of the Quran with or without english translations and other comforting and heartwarming videos such as Asma ul Husna (99 names of Allah), A is for Allah by Yousuf Islam etc.

When it comes to understanding the Quran, check out a Tafsir (which is what everyone uses), a good one is Ma'ariful Quran: http://www.islamicstudies.info/quran/maarif/maarif.php
Also, it might be the translation you're using, in English, see The Clear Quran which is on this website: http://quran.com and on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Quran-Dr-Mustafa-Khattab/dp/097730096X
The best translation is (The Clear Quran) by Dr. Mostafa Khattab
https://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Clear-Quran/dp/097730096X
Don't take the risk of reading an unknown translation, as some translations out there are not reliable
The second best translation is the translation of Prof. Abdel Haleem, from the UK:

For English, this one is super popular:
The Clear Quran

The Clear Quran is the best out there. https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Quran-Dr-Mustafa-Khattab/dp/097730096X
Speaking as a Muslim who grew up in the west I found this English translation to be the best. The Quran is a short read, like 300-400 pages, but it have plenty of rhetorical arguements that make you think. I recommend buying a physical copy because online websites are lacking features. Another sidenote, grab a copy of the biographyof the Prophet Muhammad, it will greatly help understand the Quran and the origins of Islam in general.
As a English speaker myself I found the "The Clear Quran" by Mustafa Khattab to be the best. Amazon link
Very good one
