If you want a beautiful illustrated cookbook about how they cook in China, then China: The Cookbook by Kei Lum Chan. But it doesn’t have photos of every dish and it’s not metric. There aren’t stories.
The old Time Life Chinese cooking set from the 70’s is good. It’s an illustrated hardback book about Chinese food, with a spiral bound cookbook. The cookbook has photos that show the steps as well as the dishes. Again not metric.
This price is crazy but keep an eye out for it
