You should start with The Artisan's Handbook by Cennini. (<em>https://www.amazon.com/Craftsmans-Handbook-Libro-dell-Arte/dp/048620054X</em>) He makes a lead pencil, pigments and other materials like brushes.
On Divers Arts might cover similar stuff, plus more metal, but I haven't gotten into it yet. https://www.amazon.com/Divers-Arts-Dover-Art-Instruction/dp/0486237842/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2WR57CBIM6619&keywords=On+Divers+Arts&qid=1649878405&s=books&sprefix=on+divers+arts%2Cstripbooks%2C46&sr=1-2
Oh, and Liziqi has a good video where she makes an inkstone and brushes on YouTube. That's the Chinese style of course. Beautiful stuff. Sorry, I don't remember what it's called though.
I know several people who have at least made brushes, but maybe they'll volunteer themselves here.
Thank you!
