Swedish author and doctor Bea Uusma dedicated huge part of her life researching and writing about the expedition. This seems to be the english version of her renowned book:

She basically became a medical doctor just to learn more about the case (as well as getting access to tissue samples), including learning stenography to be able to dictate the logs without using a middleman. She is without doubt the greatest expert in this field.
