You're welcome. Honestly, if you are worrying alot and feeling anxious, I highly recommend this workbook . I'm in a program through the Royal Ottawa (I'm assuming you're in the NCR) that is FREE. It took a few months to get into but I've had 18 sessions with a therapist online who has guided me through the book and all it took was a referral from my doctor. No money from me to the therapist. Just weekly calls to work through shit like why I worry about the kids picking out their own clothes to wear and people judging me because their choices are...unique.
I used The Generalized Anxiety Disorder Workbook to help with my anxiety. It was recommended by my therapist and we worked through each chapter together each week. You can totally do it on your own, though, and you don’t need a therapist to reap benefits from the book and it’s lessons. I’ve been through what you’re feeling and I hate to sound trite but it does get better. Good luck to you! As a person who also has GAD I feel ya! The worry cycle is real. I'm in CBT through the ROH right now and it's helped alot. Along with this workbook
What has personally helped me is getting as educated as I can on the issues I face through reading different books on the topic, doing workbooks, and watching licensed therapist discuss coping strategies on YouTube. I use to suffer from really bad anxiety and one of the books that helped me sooo much was this one The Generalized Anxiety Disorder Workbook. I know that you can find a lot of workbook on other issues such as depression, BPD, body dystrophies, self harm ect too though for less then $40 on Amazon. There are also some sites where you can download completely free versions of books. Some books I have liked have been “Codependency no more”, “the body keeps score” and “The untethered soul” which I downloaded completely free. Some of my favourite therapists on YouTube are https://youtube.com/c/DoctorRamani, https://youtube.com/c/Katimorton, and https://youtube.com/c/DrDanielFox
Welcome to my current daily struggle.
I tend to do most of my overthinking at work so I play podcasts and/or videos through headphones to help my brain stay busy there. Outside of work, I also try to keep myself busy with things to do and will exercise if it is an EXTREMELY high anxiety day (I've found that that can help, even though I hate it).
If you are really struggling, maybe an anxiety workbook could help you. My understanding is that it helps you differentiate your worry thoughts about hypothetical situations from valid concerns. I JUST started one to try to get a grips on my overthinking so I can't swear by it yet but I can see it's potential. I personally got this one on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Generalized-Anxiety-Disorder-Workbook-Comprehensive/dp/1626251517 .
