My go to recipe book is a comprehensive guide to cooking as well as containing recipes. It shows you cuts of meat, where to purchase ingredients, techniques etc. It worked well for me!
Back when I could eat just about anything, I used to cook from the Gourmet cookbook a lot. Ruth Reichl edited it and there are so many great recipes.
Gourmet Magazine Cookbook has over a thousand recipes.
