I studied Biology and Bitcoin (the network) is a really good analogue for how mycelium function that allow forests to thrive and transport water and nutrients many Km away, as do synapses of the brain to be able to keep the organism alive to do a myriad of metabolic functions.
I've made this very analogy in what seems every 2-3 year cycles, after first realizing what it was we were really building in 2013 or so. Sadly, that was our eternal September with the fist wave of idiots when btc broke 1200 and this place really started to go downhill.
Check out The Hidden Life of Trees to be truly amazed.
And it’s all true to an extent.
That section appears to be influenced by the research and experience that the book below was based on. Highly recommend it - you’ll never look at a tree the same way again!

the seed and nut is embryo plant. so, eating baby tree is ok. eating baby sheep to some is not ok.(because trees have no brain and emotions, that we know of). botnay is hard when it's not your thing. https://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Life-Trees-Communicate_Discoveries-Secret/dp/1771642483 trees
Thank you for the kind reply. I'm impressed iMac 2007 is still running! Nice. Appreciate that you're not buying a real tree. Not "weird"—good for the environment! I can't stand trees being felled. The Hidden Life of Trees makes it clear that they shouldn't be cut down.
That's what I love most about this series! The speech of trees with OA has a scientific basis. The trees help each other, nourish each other, and maintain a system that resembles a huge living organism.

that's a good question, I don't think anti-natalism applies to plants per se, however, I personally do not enjoy harming/destroying plants or, for that matter, any living being.
With respect to planting and growing plants, I'm all for it. If I could safely be a fruitarian I would; sadly, it's not healthy to do it full-time.
FYI: plants do communicate with each other (I could recommend some books/docs for you to read/watch, oh, what the hell, I'll just share it now: a great book by Peter Wohlleben, the hidden life of trees: what they feel, how they communicate, discoveries from a secret world) and The Nature of Things documentary: what trees talk about: a revealing look at the lives of trees)

Where are you hiking forests? What country?
It's an interesting idea, though I'm not sure how you would apply Freud's theories in order to measure consciousness outside of humans. See, for instance, The Hidden Life of Trees.
There appears to be some form of consciousness operating within plants, but how do we measure that within Freud's framework? Can we psychoanalyze a plant?
Similarly, think about the idea of panpsychism, which is starting to gain more credibility among scientists. How do we measure the consciousness of a stone? Do we have a way of determining if a stone genuinely has consciousness, or is completely inanimate?
It's a difficult question, right?

Nice info and some books to look into as well.
I have only heard bits on Wisconsin Public Radio's Chapter A Day show, but The Hidden Life of Trees, By Peter Wohlleben had some really interesting more general tree stuff. It's a book I plan to get into this fall.
Not related to just trees, I found The Great Lakes: The Natural History of a Changing Region really interesting as well. It touches a bit on everything,
I came across a nice book ads last time in the subway the book is called : The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate. great read!
