I put my HS in remission by understanding what my food triggers are. People with HS can have vastly different triggers, but generally there are the same couple of foods that can cause a flare up. HS is theorized to be caused by inflammation in the body, so the main goal is to reduce that by cutting out foods that induce inflammation. For me that meant cutting out all dairy and excess process sugar. Some people find they have reactions to the night shade family while others might be sensitive to coffee or gluten, etc.
I also do things that are known to reduce inflammation like drinking chamomile tea and exercising. There is a book by Tara Grant about HS (called ‘The Hidden Plague’) which you might benefit from! I’m current reading it now.
I have HS. It manifests on my groin, mostly, with the occasional underarm flare.
Anecdotally, I believe I have an issue with both fermented foods and gluten, as those foods seem to cause flares. (Gluten causes other issues, too. I'll spare you.) If I follow a strict gluten free diet and lay off the wine, I can keep it somewhat in control.
There is a book entitled The Hidden Plague, by Tara Grant that has seemingly helped a lot of people. The diet that Ms. Grant suggests is not right for me personally, but I do agree with her that diet just might be the answer.
Should you have any questions, my inbox is open! Best of luck to you!
If you think you have HS, this book is amazing. Mine is almost entirely in remission thru diet modification. (For me there is also a hormonal element, so occasionally I’ll still get an outbreak but they are small and resolve quickly.

I'm so, so sorry you are struggling. I completely understand the feeling of despair when you can't seem to catch a break through HS. If you are like me when I'm upset and just wanted to rant, feel free to end reading here. If you'd like some ideas of what has helped me, keep reading :)
Have you read the book The Hidden Plague by Tara Grant (https://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Plague-Overcoming-Hidradenitis-Suppurativa/dp/1939563011)? It goes into a lot of the root causes. Unfortunately it seems like HS is triggered by different things in everyone. For me, I tried the elimination diets (no gluten/dairy at one point, keto at another) and they didn't make a difference. For me, it's hormone based which I found out because my worst flairs happened after I switched birth control. I now take spironolactone and it has made a HUGE difference.
The other thing that has really saved me is medical marijuana. There's a sizable Facebook group about HS sufferers using MMJ. I NEVER smoked pot in my life, but I got to the point I was desperate enough to try medical marijuana in the form of injesting RSO and wow. Between that and the spironolactone, flairs that hadn't healed in nearly two years finally healed up.
For the record, my dermatologist recognized I had HS, but really did not know how to treat it. She had me taking antibiotics and applying some creams to the area which did nothing. I went to my naturopathic doc and she actually helped give some additional ideas and she supported the move to trying MMJ since she had seen success with some of her other patients addressing issues with it.
If you have any questions about what helped me, please feel free to respond here or send me a message. HS seriously sucks. I am really hoping you can find some relief!!! <3
You poor poor thing! I don't have it nearly as badly as you but I feel your pain (sometimes literally) - I found the book "The Hidden Plague" by Tara Grant an incredibly informative read about this very complex and little understood disease. Not CBD related, but you might want to check out this book. You can find it cheaper than amazon with a quick google search. https://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Plague-Overcoming-Hidradenitis-Suppurativa/dp/1939563011
My good friend, Tara, just wrote a book about dealing with HS. Worth a read.
