Martial arts are long overdue for a history war to clean out apocryphal ideas about lineages and monasteries and samurai codes, so here's a primer to Bowman's book, The Invention of Martial Arts, detailing how the modern concept of martial arts was invented almost entirely by the media from the 1970s onward.
