Bought this book a while back. Can't play much of it yet but these are the official arrangements licensed by Nintendo.

Don't be discouraged by your teacher. Video game music is one of the main reasons I want to play piano. Good luck with your journey.
Actually it's more along the lines of this, from this book on Amazon, I love it cause it has so many neat songs! However maybe it's just out of my scope. I can play both parts independently but tying them together always trips me up.
I'll have to really break that mindset of each part being separate and instead being one piece together that my hands craft, creating beautiful art for the ears. I love sitting down to play, especially when I start to really get a piece. I tend to work 8-6 M-F, so I can only really spare an hour a day if I'm not too exhausted, but I try for at least two on the weekends. Then I take a break for the day and get back to it the next. Definitely has helped me overcome some prior difficulties in songs!
