Yes, I do, and thanks for being constructive - I love a good conversation about this topic! :) Even though it's full of business needs, and urban legends.
I personally started changing my lifestyle when I reached around 107kg. This was after I stopped power lifting, ate my pizzas and icecreams. It just went up. I said enough. That was in 2014. Ever since I'm weighing myself and checking the circumference of my arms, waist, hips, and legs every thursday and saturday. I actually can tell you that I lost about 20kg so far (I'm about 83kg now, depending on the weekday), and about 40cm altogether from the mentioned bodyparts (if you like, I can try to share a screenshot of the results). I'm not considering this a success still, but I look much better. I feel much better too :)
So getting back to the 3 points we have here :)
I use the method where I fast every day for about 16 hours. I sometimes cheat because of my lunch schedule and it's about 14 hours only. Oh well. :D that's life for you, but again, I accepted the fact that I'm human and I'll make mystakes. I follow everything as an ideal, as a method, rather than strict rules by the minute. I started with 8 hours first, then built it up step by step as I felt comfortable. No stress. No force! I'm now on a level that some days I leave out 20-24 hours without a meal. And I feel totally fine! Also there are tonns of resources that support my statement that intermittent fasting (IF) is really good for you, and beneficial if you want to look more defined (loose fat).
You see I think people are in the illusion that "Oh, I just found out that I'm fat, so I totally can lose it in the same speed". Getting out of shape is a long process, and so is loosing fat. Or, as I like to say it, get more defined, get fitter, get healthier. Another good resource, free again: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/
Yes, I'm a Primalist :D
Also, a short mention about the "average guy" - doesn't exist. Ever. We all are different. We all handle meat, bread, dairy differently. Even within the family!
About this I found big help from this book: https://www.amazon.com/Metabolic-Typing-Diet-Customize-Preventing-ebook/dp/B000SEH6C8/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1470166028&sr=1-1&keywords=metabolic+type+diet#navbar
Let me know what you think :)
