I know it looks cheesy and maybe even douchey on it's face, but the guy is brilliant. If you ony read the first 2-3 (IIRC) it's worth it, because he breaks down female to male attraction from a anthropological perspective, basically looking at how the dynamic worked in our hunter-gatherer, tribal condition, and then making the parallel of what that looks like in modern society.

Mystery was one of the main innovators that started breaking down how to attract women in to a repeatable process. Although the game has evolved much since the writing of this book, I think the anthropological breakdown is worth it.

For more modern, evolved stuff, I'd go with Todd Valentine.
