My related-but-not-the-same experiences:
A certain "narrowness of focus" comes with some conditions, and with that great thinking skills and also creativity - with the downside of getting 'locked in' sometimes to lines of thought.
Upside again is being entertaining and good company - downside is not seeing the 'big picture' in social environments and sometimes going off line.
Don't know if that's your experience.
I used to be very 'narrow focused' and had to practise widening out my attention to stop falling into hyper-focus limbo for extended times. I compared it to "falling asleep" from my larger life, then I'd wake up again later and re-contextualise everything. Could get a bit messy.
Yeah, priorities: Groups of friends, thorough but not perfectionist approach intellectually (keep purpose in mind, not for its own sake, to keep on track), explore cultural stuff to keep things balanced. Were my top tips for me.
(Btw: Recommended book, if you ever want to play with it - widening attention, that is. Ignore the healing guff, it just has some nice exercises for relaxing your attention.)
