Popping corn is better tasting and super cheap. I take a big bowl and toss it in olive oil and do it with salt , pepper , garlic and onion powder. I have also done butter with cinnamon and brown sugar. It's really easy and skies the limit .
Allows me to use any popping corn in the microwave without the mess. Imo, better than buying smart pop or other brands, cause I can customise it to my liking (eg, plain vs adding butter, salt, herbs)
Just a tip if you are trying to give yourself truly zero point popcorn: invest in a silicone microwave popper. It takes up no space and means you can have oil-free hot air popped popcorn anytime you want.

I use mine almost daily because I always want to snack on something in the evening. Then there are other tips like using the zero calorie butter sprays on the market and sprinkling with seasoning. I like the nacho cheese one from Kernel Seasons.
They work well but are messy. Popcorn always missed the bowl for me. I now use one of these collapsible silicon microwave bowls.
Stovetop popcorn is usually a staple in our house for a snack. We just got a Salbree popcorn maker for the microwave and took it for a spin. Made a big batch and divided it between two bowls. For me: butter and lemon pepper seasoning (although sometimes I go with Old Bay instead). For the wife: butter, salt, garlic powder, white cheddar powder, MSG, and pepper.
Roots Market has pretty good popcorn too. /U/EllieMayT found me a microwave popper that is perfect too - Original Salbree Microwave Popcorn Popper, Silicone Popcorn Maker, Collapsible Bowl BPA Free - 18 Colors Available (Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G7SGOL2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ofdwFbWX4MGDM
OP, if you are tight on kitchen space (like I am), this should be a good solution!
Also, if you aren't totally salt-free, I hear using Bragg's soy seasoning in a spray bottle to lightly coat the popcorn is a great way of making the nooch stick.
I use this one Amazon Smile Link. There are quite a few similar ones. I definately recommend a small amount of oil spray and salt BEFORE popping, and pull it as soon as you get close to 2 sec without a pop. I get my popcorn form the farmers market, but I've done it with the stuff from the grocery store and thrive markets sprouted popcorn, and all of it turns out really well as long as you are VERY careful not to over cook it.
This popcorn maker is a life saver.
Don't even need one! Original Salbree Microwave Popcorn Popper, Silicone Popcorn Maker, Collapsible Bowl BPA Free - 18 Colors Available (Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G7SGOL2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_jrG2Db4CB827E
Boo! I saw a silicone doodad that you could make popcorn in... like normal popcorn that you buy by the jug. What a time to be alive.
I found this on some list a while back. Makes consistent pop corn with lil’ to no oil. What you dress with after is up to you.
https://www.amazon.com/Original-Salbree-Microwave-Silicone-Collapsible/dp/B01G7SGOL2 Silicone popcorn popper for the microwave - no oil required so it's basically just air popped popcorn.
https://www.icantbelieveitsnotbutter.com/en/products/spray 0 calorie butter spray
https://sauers.com/products/nacho-cheddar Kernel Seasons Nacho Cheese Powder - I use a very tiny bit which honestly, is less than the 1/4 tsp serving size and it's really good
Also those Fiber One brownies are good - especially the lemon bars.
I use a silicone microwave popper popper with a few spritzes of oil, tons of salt and a pinch of nutritional yeast
I have one similar to the Hotpot there, the collapsible silicone one. That's the one I use the most simply because I can just chuck it in the microwave & fill it up to the line with kernels, and voila - popcorn! I also have a Whirly Pop, which is more convenient for coating popcorn with oil & seasonings, but it also requires cleaning, and at the end of the day when my energy is zapped...meh. lol. The Salbree brand is like $15 and has a zillion colors available:
I get a couple dozen pounds of popcorn from FIT-POP online (best popcorn I've ever had) & mostly just use the silicone microwave popcorn most of the year. I've got the timing down perfectly for my microwave & it gets used multiple times a week!
A better plan is to buy one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Salbree-Microwave-Silicone-Collapsible/dp/B01G7SGOL2
I was totally skeptical but it works 100% as advertised.
