He said it in his debate with John Lofton on CNN's Crossfire. You can find it through Google quite easily. He advocated for classical conservatism in that whole debate and in general.
Also check out the contents page of his autobiography on Amazon, and you can see that chapter 17 is called Practical Conservatism. He talks about his conservatism there.
If you start getting into his music (I've been listening to him for like 6 or 7 years and I STILL haven't heard all of his albums, so take your time, lol) than I would highly recommend his autobiography as an indispensable listening companion. Frank Zappa is one artist whose personality is inseparable from his music, so it's essential to learn about what he was like as a guy to better understand his music.
well what i meant by conservative ... was simply anything different. I know what you mean though. Frank Zappa wrote a lot about her and the PMRC in his book Among other things he fought in the supreme court along with ( i believe) dee snider... But yeah I get what you're saying. Shes a completely hypocritical piece of up-town trash....
The Real Frank Zappa Book - Frank Zappa with Peter Occhiogrosso Half autobiography, half perspective on leading a band that influenced me a lot on leading a band of my own
Start with this, a full on telling of what really happens in the business. Here is the end.
Not much to do with guitar, specifically, but has a lot to do with music in general and is a very enjoyable read.
To those who have only heard his wacky stuff: give this a listen. Watermelon in Easter Hay. The first song I had a real emotional connection with. I teared up listening to it the first time, and almost still do. In part bdue to the context on the album Joe's Garage, but even out of context the song is just beautiful.
If you are a Zappa fan I highly recommend reading The Real Frank Zappa Book, his autobiography, if you haven't already. Gives some insight into his though processes and what he went through to do what he did.
Responding to a Zappa quote with another Zappa quote. You should read his book, he was a tremendously fascinating man.
Get his book. It's an incredible read.
The Real Frank Zappa Book. For the win.
