Kahoot for quizzes and jackbox can give an amazing night
Also, most board games can be very fun, EXCEPT MONOPOLY DON'T PLAY MONOPOLY, but I've played The Resistance which is basically among us irl 👍
Also happy birthday
This is the edition of Resistance that I have. It does include the Inquisitor, but I don’t think anything else? The box doesn’t say third edition though. It really is very confusing.
What do you usually play with?
I enjoy both. Prior to this, my friends and I have a lot of experience playing tabletops like this, specifically The Resistance
Everyone ought to try that first.
If you guys want to play something similar that involves bluffing and is fun check out the game The Resistance. It's a fun game if you have people that are good at lying and keeping a straight face.
Catan is the gateway game to the harder, more intense board games. Sure, now you're building settlements and trading sheep, next you'll be screaming at your mother because she's a dirty fucking spy and you know it.
I missed the Resistance and Coup Kickstaters (never heard of them at the time) and everyone is raving about how these are the greatest games out there. I'm kicking myself for missing out on the Kickstarter exclusives.
I see Resistance is $10.39 right now. I may have to pull the trigger on that.
If you like this kind of stuff, there's a board game similar to this concept (also could play "mafia" with a deck of cards)
Title of Request: Fun group games with preference toward strategy
Game time: 5min - 30min for strategy game. 5min - 1hr+ for other
Genre: Strategy or Comedy
About us: My family has a short attention span and generally enjoy the mega popular comedy games. Think like ‘Cards against humanity’ and ‘what do you meme,’ while they are fun I’m looking for some games to broaden their horizon on this upcoming family trip.
Currently, I’m a big fan of Resitance. I like the social deception and strategy aspect of the game and it’s fast.
I’ve done some quick research and Hive Pocket seems to be well liked and within the same category except it’s not a group game.
Ultimately, I’m looking for anything that you find fun and entertaining for medium to large groups that can keep various ages interested. Long drawn out or intellectually heavy games will not work, as much as I enjoy those.
I want to get Resistance and all the expansions. What do I have to buy?
I read that some versions of Resistance includes an expansion but then later another version came out that includes another expansion.
From Amazon: "Cover art may vary - revised edition now includes updated card art and the "Inquisitor" expansion in place of "The Plot Thickens" cards."
And then on Board Game Geek it doesn't mention "Inquisitor" at all
Also there is an "Hidden Agenda & Hostile Intent" expansion, a "Hidden Agenda" expansion, and a "Hostile Intent" expansion. The first one is just the other 2 combined right?
Also what does each expansion add?
No, I just have this: https://www.amazon.com/The-Resistance-Dystopian-Universe/dp/B008A2BA8G
Which didn't include any of those cards.
If he likes Coup, I would recommend The Resistance, it's like Coup, but more in depth - and it can fit a large number of players.
Ticket to Ride is a pretty popular game, and there's a wide variety of expansions/versions (Even a 1910 US expansion).
I've not played it, but Lewis and Clark has a historical theme, and shares elements with the games he likes.
Apologies for butting in... I'm not a huge board game connoisseur, but I've had a lot of fun with this. It's called The Resistance. You should check it out.
It's also on Amazon for 10 bucks. Free shipping with Prime
It looks like The Resistance is cheaper than usual.
It has been this price for at least this week.
Cool, sounds like the reality tv show equivalent of The Resistance board game.
Thanks and have a great weekend!
