Most likely not what you're loosking for specifically but it's a fun read. It spans horror movies from the very first silent films until the mid 2000s i think. It also mentions horror from around the world.

Well, if you're looking for alternatives to cliched or troped out Hollywood horror, branch out to foreign films.
Del Toro's work has been good. I enjoyed Rec. The original Let the Right One In was excellent. A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is touted as the first "Iranian" horror film (although it was shot in the States).
Non-Hollywood foreign films feel a little avant garde to me, like they aren't afraid to move in different directions. I didn't see mention of A24 or Ari Aster movies but i'd recommend them just because their kind of new blood.

It's a fun book that gives you a nice behind the scenes taste and has excellent examples of the horror genre since movies began.
